Geometry A
Since fuel-powered vehicles replaced traditional modes of transportation, my country has now established a relatively complete policy support system for the new energy vehicle industry from research and development, production, purchase, use to infrastructure, which has also prompted more and more people to buy new energy vehicles.
By 2019, the new energy vehicle market has ushered in new changes. New car-making forces have reshuffled in the fierce competition, old car brands have made great efforts to move forward, and more new models have been launched into the market.
Not long ago, Geely Auto officially announced that the Chinese name of its new energy pure electric brand's first global strategic model GE11 is Geometry A. In the future, Geely's new energy vehicles will be divided into an independent brand Geometry and appear in the public eye.
As the first mass-produced model after Geely's independent Geometry brand, Geometry A carries a very important role and positioning, and its design, performance, comfort and safety are all indispensable. Next, Titanium Media will show you what kind of answer it will give us.
Vehicle appearance
0.237Cd drag coefficient
In the design of the vehicle's exterior, the engineers of Geometry A not only had to maintain a futuristic shape, but also had to have better aerodynamics. Geometry A has a wheelbase of 2700mm and a body size of 4736x1804x1503mm, with a drag coefficient of only 0.237Cd. In comparison, Tesla Model S is 0.24Cd and Mercedes-Benz A-Class is 0.26Cd.
There is no traditional front grille at the front of the car, but the air intake grille is still retained at the bottom to provide cooling airflow. There is an automatic switch block design inside the air intake grille to prevent stones and other debris from entering the car body at high speeds.
The benefit of lightweight and low wind resistance of the whole vehicle is increased cruising range. Combined with 9% efficient energy recovery, the Geometry A high-energy ultra-long-range version has a NEDC range of 500km (the high-dimensional standard-range version has a NEDC range of 410km), meeting daily commuting needs.
Full LED headlights
In terms of vehicle lighting design, the Geometry A headlights use full LED light sources and support the IHBC high and low beam adaptive adjustment system. The camera above the front windshield identifies the vehicle in front and the light sensor detects the ambient light to achieve automatic switching of high and low beams and intelligent recognition, which increases nighttime driving safety.
Car light intelligent charging indicator
The lane change indicator light of Geometry A also serves as an intelligent charging indicator light. It will flash in fast charging state, and the three light strips represent the charging capacity of 50%, 75% and 100% respectively. When the battery reaches this capacity, the corresponding light strip will light up.
Hidden door handle
In terms of door opening, Geometry A also uses a high-tech hidden door handle, which will pop out automatically when the vehicle is unlocked. This design is not only beautiful, but also can reduce the wind resistance coefficient.
If the key is out of power, the handle on the driver's side can also be pushed open by hand, and there is a traditional mechanical key structure inside.
66kW DC fast charging port at the rear of the vehicle
Geometry A currently has different range versions of 500km and 410km, with a comprehensive power consumption of 13.5kWh per 100km. The battery uses CATL's NCM square ternary lithium battery, and its cycle life is not inferior to Tesla's 21700 cylindrical battery.
There are two charging ports on the car body, the rear one is a 66kW DC fast charging port. In the fast charging state, it takes 30 minutes to charge from 30% to 80%, and the average charging power reaches more than 50kW.
Front AC slow charging port
The AC slow charging port of Geometry A is located on the right front fender of the vehicle, and there are LED light prompts around the charging port.
The battery distribution of Geometry A is not flat under the chassis, but arranged in the shape of a "earth". Regarding battery safety, Geometry officials said they have seven tests including collision, extrusion, mechanical shock, deep water immersion, external fire, drop, and vibration.
Rear body design
The rear of the Geometry A does not have a particularly exaggerated design and looks relatively conventional. The chrome trim connects the slender taillights on the left and right sides, increasing the visual width of the rear.
Geometry A uses a very convenient design for opening the trunk. When locked, the vehicle detects that the key has been left at the rear of the vehicle for 3 seconds, and then it will flash three times and make a sound prompt before automatically opening. If the owner has his hands full, he can open the trunk without any operation, and the leg sensing step is omitted.
Interior space
Minimalist and technological interior design
Compared with other electric cars, Geometry A is more radical in interior space design. It adopts a minimalist design style, with a horizontal floating large screen, reserved space in the center console and simplified instrument panel, which all look very "alternative".
For an electric car priced between RMB 150,000 and RMB 190,000, the interior of Geometry A does not look cheap at all. Instead, it is very technological. The details such as the air vents, chrome strips and armrests are very well handled. Many real geometric elements are used to add some youthful and technological genes to the originally monotonous accessories.
D-shaped two-spoke steering wheel
In the driving position, Geometry A uses a two-spoke D-shaped steering wheel, which is a little small in size, but it is not difficult to operate. The parallel design at the bottom allows many larger friends to get more leg room.
There are a large number of multi-function buttons on the left and right sides of the steering wheel, and the distribution pattern is the same as that of current traditional cars. The left side is mainly for auxiliary driving function adjustment, including ACC/ICC intelligent navigation, voice control, and vehicle distance adjustment functions.
The buttons on the right are the operating area for the front LCD instrument panel and the central control screen. Users can directly operate the contents of the central control by switching, without having to reach out to click on the central control screen, thereby increasing the driving safety factor.
4.2-inch instrument panel
The instrument panel of Geometry A is the second "unique" feature. It does not have the traditional double-barrel, triple-barrel or analog-digital instrument structure, but is replaced by an extremely mini 4.2-inch LCD screen.
The 4.2-inch instrument panel is divided into a single part. The left side shows information such as battery, endurance and power, the middle part shows speed, gear and driving mode, and the right side shows more information. Although it is small, it is absolutely practical, and you can customize its information in the MENU.
Why is the instrument panel so small? In fact, Geometry A did not intend to have this instrument at first, and engineers put more information on the HUD. However, due to various production regulations, they had to consider adding a fixed LCD instrument. After weighing various design methods, they finally adopted this 4.2-inch mini display.
8-inch W-HUD projection digital head-up display
The W-HUD of Geometry A is worth mentioning. Its display effect and information should be at the first echelon level among all current head-up displays. The W-HUD can be customized in the center console for position and information display. The author specially tested various scenes during driving, including high light, dim light and complex background. The sight can be kept forward during driving.
With the advancement of technology, the information display of a car can now be completely completed by the HUD + central control screen. The head-up display records the information during driving, while the central control adjusts other functions. However, Geometry A hopes to add gear information to the HUD in the future. After all, the E-touch area is difficult to see under high light, which is still a big problem (the E-touch area will be mentioned later).
12.3-inch LCD LED screen
In terms of central control, Geometry A is equipped with a 12.3-inch LED screen. It is equipped with a new customized intelligent car system. Its interface adopts a honeycomb-like grid design, and each APP icon can be moved freely.
Car system
This intelligent in-vehicle system should be the product of Geely's Ecarx Technology. GKUI (Geely Key User Interface) Geely intelligent ecosystem is an in-vehicle intelligent cockpit interaction system customized and developed by Ecarx Technology for Geely Auto.
Voice control information query/navigation
Voice control window switches
Geometry A's new customized intelligent vehicle system has a strong voice interaction function, which can control most functions in the central control system, such as navigation, music, schedule making, etc. At the same time, through the voice function, some body parts can also be controlled, such as opening and closing windows, sunroof, air conditioning, etc.
Touch-sensitive central control button & wireless charging pad
Below the central control screen are the air-conditioning vents and a set of air-conditioning control buttons. These buttons are all touch-sensitive, and the operation here is indeed good in actual appearance, but I hope that a vibration design similar to Audi will be added in the future, otherwise it is easy to touch by mistake.
The space below the air conditioning control panel is used to place mobile phones, which have a wireless charging function. The charging plate adopts Delphi's solution. When the mobile phone is wirelessly connected to the car computer, there is no need to worry about finding a charging cable.
