Taiwan-based electronics foundries announced their April revenues. Pegatron continued its good performance from March, with monthly revenue growing by 25%. Quanta also maintained its monthly growth performance. However, Acer and Asus continued to be impacted by CPU shortages, with monthly revenues both falling by more than 40%.
Pegatron's revenue in April was NT$112.5 billion, a monthly increase of 25% and an annual increase of 7.8%, ending the two consecutive months of monthly revenue falling below NT$100 billion. Its cumulative revenue in the first four months was NT$406.8 billion, an annual increase of 5.6%.
Quanta's revenue in April was 78.1 billion yuan, up 6% month-on-month and 12.8% year-on-year. Its revenue in the first four months totaled 299.4 billion yuan, up 3.2% year-on-year. Quanta said that this was mainly due to strong shipments in its non-NB business.
As for foundries such as Compal, Wistron, and Inventec, their revenues in April all declined compared to March. Compal's revenue in April was 81.8 billion yuan, a monthly decrease of 5% and an annual increase of 17.8%. The cumulative revenue in the first four months was 292.4 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 10%.
Inventec's revenue in April was 39.2 billion yuan, a monthly decrease of 9.6% and an annual increase of 2.1%. The cumulative revenue in the first four months was 154 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 7.6%.
Wistron's revenue in April was 63.5 billion yuan, a monthly decrease of 13.6% and an annual increase of 10%. The cumulative revenue in the first four months was 269.7 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 1.8%.
The performance of the two A brands is miserable. Acer's revenue in April was 14 billion yuan, a monthly decrease of 41% and an annual decrease of 14%. The cumulative revenue in the first four months was 68.68 billion yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 3.3%. Acer said that the shortage of processor supply has gradually improved, but it still has an impact on the business; at the same time, the e-sports market is becoming more mature, and the demand for hardware is gradually slowing down.
ASUS's revenue in April was NT$19.9 billion, down 47.6% month-on-month and 3.4% year-on-year. Its revenue in the first four months totaled NT$105.9 billion, down 6.5% year-on-year. ASUS said that notebook computer shipments have gradually stabilized and recovered, and it is expected that shipments in the second quarter of this year will have the opportunity to be the same as the same period in 2018 or grow slightly.
