According to foreign media reports, VicOne, a provider of automotive cybersecurity solutions, announced a strategic partnership with Samsung Semiconductor, an advanced semiconductor technology company. The partnership aims to revolutionize the cybersecurity of software-defined vehicles (SDVs) by leveraging the power of VicOne's next-generation intrusion detection and prevention system (IDPS), which is powered by Samsung Semiconductor's Exynos Auto V920 system-on-chip (SOC). The main goal is to provide OEMs and end users with the best vehicle cybersecurity and prepare for safe travel in a timely manner.

As the automotive industry accelerates towards autonomous driving and SDVs, the software security of SDVs becomes critical. Because cyber threats pose significant security risks, VicOne and Samsung Semiconductor hope to work together to strengthen the cybersecurity defenses of these advanced vehicles, deploying VicOne's automotive cybersecurity system software xCarbon™ on the development board of Samsung's Exynos Auto V920 in-vehicle processor.

The key points of this cooperation:

Advanced pre-integration:

As part of the collaboration, VicOne’s xCarbon™ IDPS will seamlessly support Samsung Semiconductor’s most advanced V920 SOC series. Therefore, the Exynos Auto V920’s Neural Processing Unit (NPU) will serve as the cornerstone of VicOne’s next-generation IDPS, enabling real-time threat detection and rapid response.

Enhanced Automotive Threat Intelligence:

By combining VicOne's expertise in automotive cybersecurity with Samsung Semiconductor's strength, the two parties will develop threat intelligence models tailored for SDVs. In the future, these models will continuously analyze data streams from various sensors, ECUs, and channels to proactively identify anomalies and potential unknown threats. As a result, they can provide the Vehicle Security Operations Center (VSOC) team with valuable insights into the process and content of cyber attacks in real time, and also buy time for the team to find countermeasures to solve the problem.

Dynamic adaptability:

The joint solution will adapt to evolving threats, leveraging machine learning algorithms running on the Exynos Auto V920 NPU. Real-time updates and threat signatures will be seamlessly distributed across the SDV fleet, ensuring strong protection.

“This collaboration is a pivotal moment in automotive cybersecurity. Together with Samsung Semiconductor, we are poised to redefine SDV security standards,” said Yili Zheng, CEO of VicOne. “This joint solution will not only help OEMs and suppliers meet regulatory requirements and successfully conduct business, but also provide drivers with the cybersecurity they need for a cloud-free and safe driving experience. We hope to continue and expand our collaboration with Samsung Semiconductor for the benefit of our customers and partners. For example, we plan to work with partners to demonstrate how to protect SDV containers and hypervisors.”
