Penghui Energy said that there are currently three mainstream technical routes for all-solid-state batteries: polymers, sulfur/halides, and oxides. It chose the oxide route, claiming to have achieved a two-way breakthrough in solid-state batteries in terms of technology and materials, and solved the process and technical difficulties of oxide solid electrolytes.

Unique electrolyte wet coating process

The first generation of solid-state battery technology has achieved innovation in the electrolyte wet coating process and solved the difficulty in the preparation process of oxide electrolytes. Through the unique electrolyte wet coating process, Penghui Energy has successfully bypassed the high-temperature sintering process of oxide solid electrolytes, avoided the inherent brittleness of ceramic materials, and greatly simplified the process.

The overall cost of solid-state batteries using this process is estimated to be only about 15% higher than that of conventional lithium batteries. In the next 3 to 5 years, with continuous optimization of the process and further cost reduction of materials, it is expected to reach the same cost as conventional lithium batteries.

Inorganic composite solid electrolytes to replace diaphragms and electrolysis

The first generation of solid-state batteries independently developed by Liquid Penghui Energy completely uses inorganic solid electrolytes to replace diaphragms and electrolytes, eliminating the safety hazards of organic electrolytes and bringing more possibilities for the development of the next generation of high-performance solid-state batteries.

Passed the needle puncture test, no smoke, no fire, no explosion

In terms of safety, Penghui Energy's first-generation solid-state battery has passed the needle penetration test. When punctured, it can guide and suppress the release of internal energy, ensuring that the components of the solid-state battery remain intact under extreme conditions.

Officials also stated that by 2025, with the use of a higher proportion of silicon-based negative electrodes on the material side, the energy density will reach more than 300Wh/kg. It is expected that pilot research and development and small-scale production will be started in 2025, and the production line will be officially established in 2026 and mass production will be carried out.
