Data shows that the average charging time for electric vehicles is generally more than one hour, which cannot meet the needs of users for fast energy replenishment.

McKinsey even pointed out in a research report that the speed and convenience of charging has replaced car purchase costs and range anxiety, becoming the number one issue hindering the widespread use of electric vehicles.

Car companies are taking action. Weilai's battery swap mode, Tesla 's high-current fast charging mode, and more car companies' high-voltage fast charging mode are all designed to allow users to quickly and conveniently replenish energy. International auto giants such as Porsche, Hyundai, and Kia, as well as domestic auto brands such as Ideal, Xiaomi, Zeekr, Xiaopeng, Zhiji, Jifox, and Xingtu have all released models that support ultra-fast charging.

Battery Companies are also taking action, gradually upgrading products from those that support 4C charging to those that support 6C.

On the evening of June 12, according to 36Kr Auto, the global leader in power batteries, CATL, plans to launch the second generation of Kirin batteries in the second half of this year - power batteries with a charging rate of 6C.

At the same time, BYD, which has not released new battery products for three years , is also planning to launch fast-charging battery products: people close to BYD revealed that BYD's second-generation blade battery may be launched in the second half of this year, and BYD's 6C battery is also under development.

It is understood that 6C refers to the charging rate. 1C means that the battery is fully charged in 1 hour, 2C means that the battery is fully charged in 1/2 hour... and so on. The larger the number in front of C, the faster the charging speed. 4C means a full charge in 15 minutes, 5C means a full charge in 12 minutes, and 6C means a full charge in 10 minutes.

Assuming that a new energy vehicle has a fully charged range of 600 kilometers, then 6C charging means charging for 10 minutes to obtain a range of 600 kilometers , that is, "one kilometer per second"!

Vico.com Lithium Battery noticed that Juwan Technology claims to be the fastest in the field of fast charging. According to the news, in August 2021, the GAC AION V Plus70 fast charging version equipped with Juwan Technology's XFC fast charging power battery (6C rate) set a world record for the "fastest electric vehicle charging technology " by the World Record Certification Agency (WRCA) with a "five-minute charging and 207-kilometer range".

On April 25 this year, Xinwanda Power released a new flash charging battery 3.0, namely 6C LFP Xinxingchi battery and 6C NCM Xinxingyao battery.

Zhongxinhang is also a leader in the field of fast charging, and has become a company with complete product solutions for 2C, 3C, 4C, 5C, and 6C. Data shows that a vehicle equipped with Zhongxinhang LFP 5C ultra-fast charging battery can achieve a 5-minute charging range of 300+km; a vehicle equipped with Zhongxinhang HV-NCM 5C ultra-fast charging battery can achieve a 5-minute charging range of 400+km.

China New Aviation's 6C product will be fully mass-produced in the fourth quarter of this year.

However, although car companies have released models that support ultra-fast charging and battery companies have launched ultra-fast charging products, the current charging facilities that support ultra-fast charging are still one of the key factors restricting the application of supercharging.

The industry usually calls charging piles with power above 120kW "supercharging piles." If the supercharging rate is increased to 4C or even 5C, the charging power must reach more than 360kW.

Currently, there are very few charging stations that support 4C and above.
