Among the current automotive electronic components, large-area display screens are used in the central control design of cars and have become an important element in the design of smart cars . This large-area display screen design is different from the screen design in traditional TVs and mobile phones. Car displays have more personalized display requirements, such as irregular display screens and split-screen applications. At the same time, in order to integrate control signals and display signals into the car controller , it is necessary to design a display panel interface chip with strong versatility . Universal panel display solution In the face of the display application needs in the automotive industry, Epson has launched an eDP/OpenLDI bridge chip S2D13V70 that connects car controllers and display panels. This chip can convert two eDP signals (version 1.4a) into two OpenLDI signals for display panel display, as shown in Figure 1. This chip is a bridge chip that meets the current mainstream product interface and can achieve high-speed and stable transmission of display data.

What features does a chip need to meet the needs of complex display applications?
Powerful signal processing capability The eDP/OpenLDI bridge chip S2D13V70 has outstanding signal processing characteristics. The product can receive up to 2.7Gbps eDP signals from the host device and output 148.5MHz OpenLDI signals to the display panel. The display resolution reaches 1920 x 1200@60fps, which can effectively meet the output requirements of the display panel. The powerful data processing capability allows the chip to be handy when dealing with high-definition data transmission . Good product reliability Automotive electronics has specially formulated industry standards for reliability. The eDP/OpenLDI bridge chip S2D13V70 meets the AEC-Q100 standard, with an operating temperature of -40℃~+105℃, and the product characteristics are strictly designed in accordance with the automotive industry standards. In addition, the product fully considers functional reliability and market demand, and is designed for compatibility with current automotive electronics. It has image error correction function, data verification through SPI connection, CRC verification , fault interruption and other functions. Design users do not need to make very large changes to implement applications, which can cope with the rapidly changing automotive market.

Rich product functions The eDP/OpenLDI bridge chip S2D13V70 has a powerful split-screen function, as shown in Figure 2. It has functions such as left-right split-screen and top-bottom split-screen. This function can be implemented inside the chip, which is convenient for controller designers to quickly integrate and realize rich display functions such as split-screen and multi-screen.
