An Meng, president and CEO of Qualcomm, said during the conference that a core goal of the development of mobile communications is to connect everything. While the network provides connection and perception capabilities, it is also becoming a new computing engine. Generative AI will transform the user experience on the terminal side. PCs with generative AI capabilities can better understand user needs. Generative AI will also bring a new way of human-car interaction, allowing users to directly communicate with the car. In addition, generative AI will bring new opportunities to all walks of life.

Today, generative AI transformation is accelerating digital transformation and driving economic growth. According to McKinsey research, generative AI technology can enable more than 60 use cases to achieve overall economic benefit growth of $2.6 trillion to $4.4 trillion per year, an economy roughly equivalent to the UK’s GDP (Gross Domestic Product) in 2021.
Although most of the development work of generative AI is currently concentrated in the cloud, generative AI is rapidly evolving towards running directly on the device. In this regard, Meng Pu, chairman of Qualcomm China, said during the conference, “Only in terminals such as smartphones, mobile PCs and connected cars that are within our reach, generative AI functions can be run anytime and anywhere, so that terminals and the cloud can be integrated. Tight integration will promote the widespread application of generative AI."
This trend will not only promote the continuous upgrading of terminals and bring a new growth cycle to the market, but will also expand the scale of the entire smart terminal market, covering AI PCs, smart cars, etc.
