In 2023, domestic car companies declared a total of 3,927 new car announcements, an increase of 30% compared to 2022. The official sales volume of new energy vehicles in 2023 will increase by 38% year-on-year. The speed of car companies deploying new products is slower than the sales growth. This also means that for every car sold, car companies need to invest less in product development.
At present, in new energy vehicles, the highest cost is still the battery. Depending on the cruising range, the battery may account for about 20% to 40% of the cost of the entire vehicle. For battery companies, they can form supporting relationships with more vehicle companies, and more announcements have been made for models equipped with their own batteries, which means there are opportunities to obtain more vehicle installations.
According to statistics based on the number of product announcements, Dianchehui shows that there are 27 battery companies that have announced more than 5 models of supporting complete vehicles in 2023, of which only 6 have more than 100 models, namely CATL, Guoxuan Hi-Tech, and Yiwei Lithium Six companies, including Neng, Zhongxin Aviation, BYD and Mengguli, supplied 3,252 models, accounting for 82%.

This is significantly different from the ranking of battery companies in vehicle installation volume. BYD ranks second in vehicle installation volume, but ranks fifth in the number of announcements. Guoxuan Hi-Tech ranks second in the number of announcements, but its vehicle installation volume is lower than that of China Innovation Aviation and Yiwei Lithium Energy. less.
Among the companies with the highest number of announced supporting products, CATL’s supporting products have a growth rate of 15%, which is lower than other companies. However, currently, the number of supporting complete vehicle products of CATL is in an absolute leading position, with the number of supporting announcements accounting for all 58% of the announcement, on the premise that there is a large base, the growth rate of CATL may further decrease in the next few years.
The growth rates of Shaanxi Coal Chemical Industry, Ganfeng Lithium Battery, Honeycomb Energy, and China New Aviation have exceeded 100% and have a certain scale, and there is still much room for growth in the future; the number of Anchi New Energy, Micromacro Power, and Penghui Energy has decreased year-on-year. .
Currently, in the field of power batteries, leading companies have taken the lead in supporting announcements. Companies at the bottom of the rankings have very few announcements and vehicle installations, and they are likely to be eliminated in the future.
