On September 11, the China Automotive Power Battery Industry Innovation Alliance (referred to as the " Battery Alliance") released the domestic power battery installation volume data and rankings of the TOP15 in August 2023 and January-August.
Data show that in August, my country's power battery installed capacity was 34.9GWh, a year-on-year increase of 25.7% and a month-on-month increase of 8.2%. Among them, the installed volume of ternary batteries is 10.8GWh, accounting for 31.0% of the total installed volume; the installed volume of lithium iron phosphate batteries is 24.1GWh, accounting for 69.0% of the total installed volume.
From January to August, the cumulative installed volume of power batteries in my country was 219.2GWh, a cumulative year-on-year increase of 35.3%. Among them, the cumulative installed volume of ternary batteries is 69.4GWh, accounting for 31.6% of the total installed volume; the cumulative installed volume of lithium iron phosphate batteries is 149.6GWh, accounting for 68.3% of the total installed volume.
In terms of concentration, in August, a total of 33 power battery companies in China's new energy vehicle market achieved vehicle installation support, 4 fewer than the same period last year. The power battery installed capacity of the top 3, top 5, and top 10 power battery companies were 28.2GWh, 30.7GWh, and 34.0GWh respectively, accounting for 80.9%, 88.0%, and 97.5% of the total installed capacity respectively.
From January to August, a total of 48 power battery companies in my country's new energy vehicle market achieved vehicle installation support, one more than the same period last year. The power battery installed volume of the top 3, top 5, and top 10 power battery companies were respectively 178.3GWh, 196.0GWh and 213.7GWh, accounting for 81.3%, 89.4% and 97.5% of the total installed capacity respectively.
Regarding whether there is a surplus of lithium batteries , data shows that in August, China's total power and energy storage battery production was 73.3GWh, and sales were 65.0GWh; from January to August, China's total power and energy storage battery production was 456.2GWh, and sales were 411.1GWh.
That is to say, judging from the current data, there is currently no surplus of lithium batteries

The top 15 domestic power battery companies in terms of vehicle installation volume in August are: CATL , BYD , China New Aviation, Guoxuan Hi-Tech , Yiwei Lithium Energy , Honeycomb Energy, Zhengli New Energy, LG New Energy, Sunwanda , Funeng Technology , Ruipu Lanjun, Duofuoduo, Rongsheng Mengguli, Lishen, Henan Lithium Dynamics.

The top 15 domestic power battery companies in terms of vehicle installation volume from January to August are: CATL, BYD, China New Aviation, Everview Lithium Energy, Guoxuan Hi-Tech, Sunwanda, LG New Energy, Honeycomb Energy, Funeng Technology, and Zhengli Xinneng, Rui Pu Lanjun, Duofuoduo, Jiewei Power, Lishen, Anchi New Energy.

From the above two rankings, we can see that the market position of the TOP3 is stable, because in August, the power battery installed capacity of Zhongxin Aviation was more than twice that of Guoxuan Hi-tech, which ranked fourth; and from January to August, Zhongxin Aviation Innovative Aviation is also more than twice as powerful as No. 4 Yiwei Lithium.
Yiwei Lithium Energy and Guoxuan High-tech are competing fiercely for who can occupy the fourth place. Currently, Guoxuan High-tech ranks fourth every month, while Yiwei Lithium Energy ranks fourth from January to August.
Compared with the August rankings in July, Rongsheng Mengguli and Henan Lithium Dynamics are new to the list.
Guoxuan High-tech and Yiwei Lithium Energy exchanged positions. Zhengli New Energy, which was originally ranked 8th, rose to seventh place, LG New Energy, which was originally ranked ninth, rose to eighth place, and Sunwanda, which was originally ranked seventh, retreated to ninth place.
Compared with the January-August rankings from January to July, Anchi New Energy entered the list, and the Korean company SK On dropped out of the list.

Ningde era
Although the market share sometimes rises slightly and sometimes drops slightly, the CATL's position as the number one in the world will not change.
On August 16, CATL released the world’s first 4C superchargeable battery that uses lithium iron phosphate material and can be mass-produced - Shenxing Supercharged Battery, which achieves ultra-fast "charging in 10 minutes and a range of 400 kilometers" Charging speed, and reaching a cruising range of more than 700 kilometers , greatly alleviates users’ energy replenishment anxiety and fully opens the era of overcharging for new energy vehicles.
On September 1, CATL announced through its official social media that the Ideal MEGA model will be equipped with a peak 5C Kirin battery, enabling a charging efficiency of 500 kilometers in 12 minutes. It is reported that the Ideal MEGA will be released in December this year. The show car will enter the store in January next year and will be delivered in February. It is expected to sell for more than 500,000 yuan.
BYD
On September 4, the Mercedes-Benz CLA concept car made its debut at the 2023 Munich Auto Show. The production version will be officially released in 2024. The new car is expected to be equipped with BYD's lithium iron phosphate battery.
It is understood that so far, car companies such as FAW, Ford, Toyota, Changan, and BAIC have equipped blade batteries . Tesla , Mercedes-Benz, PSA, Dongfeng, etc. are also on the customer list, and some have entered the stage of substantive cooperation.
China New Airlines
After entering the "3GWh club" of single-month power battery installations in July and recording a monthly power battery installation volume of 3.20GWh, China Aviation took a step further in August, with domestic power battery installations reaching 3.38GWh in a single month.
On the evening of August 29, China Airlines announced its results for the first half of the year: revenue reached approximately RMB 12.295 billion, a year-on-year increase of 34.1%; net profit was approximately RMB 266 million, a year-on-year increase of 60.8%.
Regarding the performance growth, China Airlines said that during the reporting period, due to the gradual release of the group's production capacity, a richer product line, increased market segment coverage and penetration, and further diversification of customer needs, the group's operating performance continued to improve significantly.
China New Aviation also stated in the report that it will further develop its technical efforts in the second half of the year, including continuing to complete the promotion of 4C ultra-fast charging prismatic battery products and launching a new structure of top-flow cylindrical battery technology to achieve 6C fast charging to support high-energy and ultra-fast charging. Full scene applications, etc. to ensure the competitive advantage of the company's products in the application field.
