Recently, according to relevant media reports, Wang Jun, chief operating officer of Huawei Auto BU and president of the intelligent driving solution product line, has been suspended. Yu Chengdong, CEO of Huawei Auto BU, will be solely in charge of the smart car business.
It is reported that this adjustment may be related to the poor progress of the automobile sector business that Wang Jun is responsible for.
Currently, Huawei has three main layout models in the automotive field:
The first is the standard parts model, which provides automobile companies with standardized parts, such as motors, electronic controls, etc.;
The second is Huawei's HI model, which mainly involves in-depth cooperation with car manufacturers to carry out technology iterations and continuously upgrade user experience in aspects such as smart driving and smart cockpits. For example, cooperation with BAIC, GAC, Changan, etc. is this model.
The third is the smart car selection model, which means Huawei can not only provide car companies with full-stack solutions, but also include software operations, as well as the brand, channel, retail, and marketing experience accumulated by Huawei's terminal business in the TO C transformation in the past ten years. , its grasp of product definition, user experience, industrial design, aesthetic design, etc., as well as the 1+8+N full-scenario ecosystem accumulated by Huawei’s consumer business, and the strict quality control system accumulated in the ICT field, such as with Cooperation with Thalys, a subsidiary of Xiaokang.

Wang Jun is responsible for Huawei's HI model here. Under this business model, Huawei can provide overall packaging solutions such as smart driving and smart cockpits for OEMs. Currently, the main partners include BAIC Jihu, Avita, GAC, etc. Launched products include JiFox Alpha S HI Edition and Avita 11.
Among them, the Extreme Fox Alpha S HI version is the first Huawei HI model. However, since the delivery of this car began in July 2022, its performance has not been satisfactory, with monthly sales of only a few hundred units. It is reported that this has also caused some dissatisfaction within both parties.
In comparison, Avita 11 is in a relatively better situation due to the "endorsement" of the three giants: Huawei, Changan, and CATL. According to the latest statistics, since delivery began at the end of December 2022, Avita 11 has delivered more than 2,000 new cars in the past 38 days.

However, compared with Huawei's smart selection model led by Yu Chengdong, there is still a clear gap. Currently, there are a number of models on sale in Huawei's Smart Selection mode, including the Wenjie M5, Wenjie M7, and Wenjie M5 EV. Among them, the Wenjie M5 delivered over 10,000 yuan in less than 100 days after its launch, and the Wenjie M7 delivered over 1,000 yuan in the first month. In 2022, Wenjie's annual delivery volume will be 76,180 vehicles.
Perhaps it is because of the relatively excellent development trend of smart selection mode. At the end of November last year, there was news that BAIC was jointly developing a new car with Huawei, which is expected to be launched in 2024. This car will change the previous situation where BAIC builds and sells cars, and Huawei launches The technology cooperation model adopts the "Huawei Smart Selection" model similar to Wenjie, and is sold in Huawei stores.
Immediately afterwards, people familiar with the matter revealed that car companies such as Chery and Jianghuai will also cooperate with Huawei on the smart selection model. Among them, Huawei has cooperated with Chery Automobile on at least two models, and it has also cooperated with Jianghuai Automobile on at least one car.
According to the latest news, Yu Aihua, member of the Standing Committee of the Anhui Provincial Party Committee and Secretary of the Hefei Municipal Party Committee, and Yu Chengdong, Huawei’s Managing Director, have had in-depth discussions recently on jointly promoting the progress of the cooperation projects between Huawei Terminal, Jianghuai Automobile, and Feixi County. Some people believe that this means that the rumors of Huawei and JAC cooperating in car manufacturing have basically been settled.
As Huawei's smart car selection model is widely spread across a wider range, even BAIC, which Huawei cooperated with in the early days, has begun to shift to the smart car selection model. Where will Huawei's HI model go next? The answer is curious.
