TE Connectivity China Automotive Division Engineering Technology Center officially opened
Empowering China's automotive industry with deep innovation
Suzhou, China – November 9, 2022 – The Engineering Technology Center of TE Connectivity (hereinafter referred to as “TE”) China Automotive Business Unit (hereinafter referred to as “Engineering Center”) was officially completed and put into use. This not only marks the further enhancement of the local engineering research and development capabilities of TE China Automotive Business Unit, which will be able to more effectively meet the rapidly growing and dynamically changing needs of local customers, but also marks another important milestone for TE to deepen its roots in China and serve the local market.
TE China Automotive Division Engineering Technology Center is located in Suzhou, with a total of 5 floors, integrating engineering, R&D, design, office and other functions, and can accommodate more than 800 engineers. The engineering center focuses on the engineering R&D of electrified and intelligent products. After full operation, it will continue to significantly increase the localization rate of TE's products in the fields of new energy vehicles and in-vehicle communications on the original basis.
The Engineering Center will become the engineering base and "innovation brain" of TE's China Automotive Division. After its opening, more than 600 engineers who were previously distributed in seven different offices across the country will be able to truly converge for the first time, achieving more efficient communication, more concentrated R&D resources, and more cohesive teamwork. This will further unleash the potential of local Chinese talents and continuously enhance TE's ability to help the transformation and development of the automotive industry.
Sun Xiaoguang, Vice President and General Manager of TE China Automotive Division said: "The completion and launch of this engineering center is not only a quantitative change of our years of rooting in China and continuously creating local capabilities, but also a qualitative change of TE China Automotive Division's continuous innovation and empowerment of China's automotive transformation. Today, the innovative capabilities of Chinese auto brands are giving us a bigger stage. We will continue to drive innovation and devote ourselves to the electrification and intelligence of China's automotive industry."
TE China Automotive Division has adhered to the strategy of "rooting in the local market and in-depth innovation" for nearly 30 years. It has now become the regional division with the broadest product line and complete engineering comprehensive capabilities in TE. The capabilities of its manufacturing engineers and intelligent electrification product development engineers have been continuously enhanced, and it has become a global model for TE in the development of some products. As of now, TE China Automotive Division has more than 600 domestic and foreign patents. The output value of a series of high-voltage connectors and high-speed and high-frequency connector products developed by the Chinese team has continued to rise. Among them, the development and application of TE CSJ high-voltage connection series products, the second-generation national standard DC vehicle charging socket, and the HC-Bolt charging golden combination are the outstanding answers handed in by TE China Automotive Division in responding to the great tide of intelligent electrification transformation in the automotive industry. After years of polishing, TE China Automotive Division currently has mature electrical connection system architecture capabilities, advanced technology research and development capabilities, and strong and rapid local forward development capabilities. It has launched a series of design, development, verification and large-scale production in response to market trends, cutting-edge technologies, new materials and new processes.
The opening of the Engineering Technology Center of TE China Automotive Division is another new starting point for TE to deepen local innovation and enhance R&D capabilities. TE China Automotive Division will adhere to the customer-oriented concept, cultivate internal strength, consolidate capabilities, seize opportunities, and innovate; continue to implement the deep localization strategy, constantly strive for excellence in R&D, quality, digitalization, delivery and services, and continue to empower the development of China's automotive industry with deep innovation.
Ralf Klaedtke, vice president and chief technology officer of TE's global transportation solutions business unit , said: "The development of automotive electrification in China is changing with each passing day. We also have a strong team in China. They are full of energy, enthusiasm, and courage to take on important tasks. They are unforgettable. We will see China become the world's largest electric vehicle market, and we are also seeing engineers and their products from TE China's automotive business unit go out of China and serve the world."
