Recently, according to foreign media reports, American energy company CharIN released the Megawatt Charging System (MCS) DC fast charging connector. MCS has been developed for about four years since CharIN launched the Commercial Vehicle Heavy Duty Charging Working Group at the first CharIN North America Conference in 2018.

The maximum design current of the MCS DC fast charging connector is 3000A, and the voltage can withstand up to 1250V, which means that the charging connector can withstand a peak power of 3750kW, which is an order of magnitude higher than the 350-500kW of the CCS Combo connector developed by MCS.

CharIN said that MCS is a product designed based on globally unified requirements and technical specifications, which means that MCS is expected to be used globally in trucks, buses and potentially other industries, including marine, aerospace, mining or agricultural applications. According to the plan, the final MCS standard is expected to be released in 2024.
