According to foreign media reports, Ford has applied for a new patent to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO): a remote engine system that allows car owners to remotely start the engine or control it using a remote key.

According to the application, the technology will allow vehicle owners to rev the engine without pressing the accelerator, using only a "user-operated input device." The vehicle's engine can be started "at a different distance from the vehicle," or remotely.
It seems like every car enthusiast has the idea of being able to listen to a loud engine roar at the touch of a button, even when standing outside the car. Ford and its siblings are not usually keen on developing unconventional features, but Silicon Valley companies like Tesla have broken with tradition and attracted a lot of media attention, such as Tesla's Boombox mode, which plays custom audio outside the car, including fart sounds.
Ford has filed several patent applications in recent days, including for drift mode and remote parking functions. This remote engine acceleration function may be very useful for companies that want to show the sound of car engines at auto shows, without having to enter the car when showing the engine sound.
To be sure, filing for a patent doesn't necessarily mean Ford will install the technology in all of its vehicles.
