Serbian battery developer ElevenEs said in a statement on October 21 that it will build the first LFP battery super factory in Europe.
It is understood that ElevenEs has now started production and has selected a piece of land in Subotica, Serbia as its future super factory. It is expected that by 2023 the factory will be able to produce LFP batteries with an annual production capacity of 300MWh.
In the second phase, the plant will have an annual production capacity of 8GWh, which will then be expanded to 16GWh per year.
The construction of the ElevenEs factory was funded by EIT InnoEnergy, the European sustainable energy innovation agency, which has previously invested in European battery companies such as Northvolt and Verkor.
In fact, ElevenEs has been focusing on the LFP technology route for some time. Since October 2019, ElevenEs has been conducting research and development on LFP batteries and opened a research and development laboratory in July 2021. At present, ElevenEs produces square and soft-pack battery products that can be applied to energy storage systems ranging from 5kWh to 200MWh, as well as electric forklifts, mining trucks, buses, passenger cars and other fields.
After the ElevenEs LFP battery super factory goes into production, it will be able to meet the demand for batteries for more than 300,000 electric vehicles each year.
