From October 19th to 22nd, the 2021 C-V2X "Four Cross-Border" (Shanghai, Suzhou and Wuxi) pilot application practice activities were held on open test roads in Jiading District, Shanghai, Xiangcheng District, Suzhou and Xishan District, Wuxi.
As an important module manufacturer participating in the previous C-V2X "cross-chip module, cross-terminal, cross-vehicle, and cross-security platform" ("four-cross"), Quectel Communications made its debut this year as scheduled, bringing vehicle-mounted products such as C-V2X module AG15, 5G+C-V2X module AG550Q, and AP module AG215S, supporting many automobile manufacturers such as Great Wall Motors, Human Horizons, SAIC-GM, FAW-Volkswagen, Stellantis, Dongfeng Renault, and Hycan to successfully complete C-V2X scenario demonstrations and public experiences on public demonstration roads. The demonstration vehicles have also been expanded from small passenger cars in previous years to different types such as commercial vehicles, light trucks, and heavy trucks.
The C-V2X "Four Cross-border" event is jointly organized by authoritative industry-university-research institutions such as the China Intelligent Connected Vehicle Industry Innovation Alliance, the IMT-2020 (5G) Promotion Group C-V2X Working Group, and the China Society of Automotive Engineers. It is a well-known C-V2X top application display event in the industry.
Nearly a hundred companies participated in this event, covering various fields such as automobiles, communications, transportation, maps and positioning, information security, cryptography, and autonomous driving.
Supporting mass-produced models to complete C-V2X demonstration
It is particularly worth mentioning that this year's C-V2X demonstration at the Shanghai event was mainly based on models that have entered mass production. During the event, Quectel's C-V2X series automotive-grade modules supported the Human Horizons HiPhi X and SAIC-GM's 2021 Buick GL8 Avenir models to successfully complete the V2X Day1 mass production-level "four-cross" demonstration event, fully demonstrating Quectel's leading technical strength in the field of C-V2X vehicle-road collaboration.
As a leader in C-V2X modules, Quectel has always been at the forefront of the industry. Not only does it have an early technology layout, it also has advantages such as a complete product portfolio, extensive ecological cooperation, and rich practical projects and mass production experience.
5G+C-V2X module debuts in four regions
In addition to C-V2X technology, 5G vehicle networking is also an important condition for realizing autonomous driving and unmanned driving in the future. This year, Quectel's AG550Q 5G+C-V2X automotive-grade module debuted at the "Four Cross-border" event, and assisted the HiPhi X of Human Horizons and the Haval H6 of Great Wall Motors in successfully completing consistency tests in Shanghai and Suzhou.
This module is also the only mass-produced C-V2X product on site that uses the Qualcomm SA515M chip solution. It supports the sub-6GHz frequency band and both NSA and SA modes. Its superior performance of high-speed communication and low latency can provide better security and service quality for key automotive businesses.
The demonstration scene and road structure are more complex
In order to continuously explore the innovative evolution of vehicle-road collaborative autonomous driving technology, the C-V2X demonstration scene was "upgraded" at the Suzhou event.
In addition to participating in the first-phase C-V2X scenarios such as forward collision warning, blind spot warning, faulty vehicle warning, construction and congestion warning ahead, and reminder of vulnerable traffic participants, Quectel's C-V2X series modules have also successfully completed the verification of the second-phase applications in Suzhou, including vehicle-to-vehicle cooperative lane change, vehicle-road cooperative lane change, cooperative vehicle merging, and perception data sharing.
In addition, in view of the relatively complex characteristics of domestic urban road structures, this event has also added support for common scenarios such as increasing or decreasing the number of lanes in road sections, traffic light waiting areas, right-turn lanes, bus stop lanes, etc. It has expanded vehicle turning information and the connection relationship between lanes at intersections, and conducted more accurate lane-level positioning function tests.
5G+C-V2X End-to-End Solution
At the C-V2X large-scale test event to be held in Liuzhou next month, Quectel's automotive-grade C-V2X application processor (AP) module AG215S for C-V2X and Telematics applications will also be used in conjunction with the AG550Q to form a secure and complete 5G+C-V2X end-to-end solution to assist customers in participating in C-V2X large-scale tests.
AG215S is based on Qualcomm SA2150P chip and integrates national security solutions. It can be used as a C-V2X application processor to run intelligent transportation system (ITS) protocol stacks and applications, and more efficiently support connected vehicles and roadside infrastructure to achieve driving safety and smart transportation applications.
Technology continues to upgrade and product lines continue to expand
In the automotive industry, the continuous emergence of diversified application scenarios has also put forward higher requirements for communication module products. In response to the segmented needs in different scenarios, Quectel has launched a complete product line and diversified solutions in the automotive field. It not only provides automotive-grade 5G, LTE, LTE-A, C-V2X, Wi-Fi communication modules and GNSS positioning modules for pre-installed applications, but also develops a variety of Android smart modules for pre-installed central control entertainment systems, ADAS/DMS and other applications. At the same time, it provides products such as vehicle antennas, which can meet the connection needs of different Internet of Vehicles application scenarios and the continuity needs of automobile manufacturers for future product planning in one stop.
As the 5G+C-V2X ecosystem matures, more and more vehicle manufacturers are accelerating their intelligent transformation and upgrading. Quectel fully utilizes its technical advantages and experience in the field of Internet of Vehicles, and is actively participating in the definition and planning of the next generation of intelligent connected models for more vehicle manufacturers. At the same time, it collaborates in the construction of many C-V2X projects, providing basic support and innovative empowerment for various new applications and new business models of intelligent driving and smart transportation.
