NI and Seoul Robotics to Demonstrate LiDAR-Based Solutions at Velodyne Booth
Velodyne Lidar, Inc. (Nasdaq: VLDR, VLDRW) will demonstrate its innovative lidar technology at the IAA Mobility show in Munich, September 7-12 (Hall B3, Booth A75). Velodyne will showcase its technology leadership and broad product portfolio in lidar sensors and software. Velodyne’s solutions enable autonomous applications and advance safe, sustainable and accessible mobility, infrastructure and security.
Velodyne will hold a press conference at its IAA Mobility booth from 1:15 to 1:30 p.m. on September 6, where company leaders will highlight how Velodyne's solutions deliver exceptional performance, range and reliability to support customers' next-generation infrastructure and mobility applications. They will also introduce Velodyne's portfolio of compact solid-state sensors that can be embedded in sleek vehicles and robotics applications.
“We are taking part in IAA Mobility to demonstrate how Velodyne’s sensors and software are meeting a wide range of customer needs to support safe mobility and smart city infrastructure around the world,” said Erich Smidt, Vice President, Europe, Velodyne Lidar. “We are also bringing partners who are first to market in bringing future autonomous solutions. NI and Seoul Robotics are recognized industry leaders, delivering solutions that improve people’s lives and make their communities safer.”
Partners showcase lidar-based solutions
NI , a developer of automated test and automatic measurement systems, will be exhibiting with Velodyne in the booth. NI will demonstrate optimized simulation for Velodyne lidar sensors, which can be used to develop and test advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and autonomous vehicle (AV) functions. NI's simulation solutions make it easier to integrate Velodyne's sensors into vehicle solutions, which can accelerate time to market and improve vehicle safety. NI will also demonstrate how its monoDrive AV simulation software uses Velodyne's lidar technology to create digital twins and provide verified, physics-based models of Velodyne lidar sensors.
“For ADAS and AV solutions using Velodyne sensors, our ADAS and lidar simulation capabilities can help accelerate system development and deployment,” said Jeff Phillips, director of marketing for NI’s Transportation Business Unit. “NI monoDrive Real-to-Virtual technology provides an end-to-end solution for collecting real-world data from cameras, lidar and GNSS systems to create high-fidelity digital twins to help accelerate ADAS and AV development. Velodyne’s high-performance sensors combined with our simulation and validation capabilities enable developers to test and validate solutions under multiple conditions at massive scale before vehicles hit the road.”
As a partner in the Automated with Velodyne program, Seoul Robotics will demonstrate its AI Perception Engine for Velodyne lidar sensors at the Velodyne booth, which provides real-time object detection, classification, tracking, and prediction capabilities for autonomous systems. The AI Engine powers self-driving cars as well as smart city applications and advanced facility parameter monitoring systems. Seoul Robotics’ SENSR™ perception software is equipped with a fully optimized AI Engine that takes full advantage of Velodyne’s lidar sensor portfolio, including Puck™ , Ultra Puck™ , and Alpha Prime™ .
Velodyne’s Highlights: High-Performance Sensors and Software
Velodyne products on display at IAA Mobility include:
Velarray H800 : A solid-state lidar sensor designed for automotive-grade performance, featuring Velodyne’s breakthrough proprietary micro lidar array architecture (MLA). Combining long-range perception with a wide field of view, the sensor is designed for safe navigation and collision avoidance in ADAS and autonomous mobility applications. The product can be used to enable advanced driver assistance features such as adaptive cruise control (ACC), lane keeping assist (LKA), and pedestrian automatic emergency braking (PAEB). The Velarray H800 is designed with a compact, embeddable form factor, designed to fit neatly inside the windshield of a truck, bus or car, or seamlessly mount to the exterior of the vehicle.
Velarray M1600 : An innovative solid-state lidar sensor designed for mobile robotics applications. Built using Velodyne’s MLA, the sensor provides exceptional near-field perception for safe navigation. The Velarray M1600 enables contactless mobile and last-mile delivery robots to operate safely and autonomously without human intervention. This durable, compact sensor can be deployed in a variety of environments and weather conditions for nearly 24/7 use, year-round.
Velabit™ : Velodyne’s ultra-small sensor significantly increases the versatility and affordability of 3D lidar perception. This compact, mid-range lidar sensor is highly configurable to support a variety of specialized use cases and can be embedded virtually anywhere in vehicles, robots, drones (UAVs), and infrastructure. The solid-state Velabit product supports Velodyne’s mission to make high-quality 3D lidar sensors easily accessible to everyone.
Vella™ : Velodyne’s breakthrough ADAS software based on the directional view Velarray sensor. Compared to the existing camera-plus-lidar approach, Vella will revolutionize the advanced driver assistance features currently on the market, including ACC, LKA and PAEB. The Vella Development Kit (VDK) enables companies to leverage the advanced capabilities of the Vella software in their autonomous solutions. By reducing the time and effort required to integrate 3D lidar sensors into applications, the VDK helps companies use their development resources more efficiently.
