Diodes Incorporated Launches High-Speed, Bidirectional, Dual-Supply, Auto-Sensing Level Shifter IC for Automotive Applications
Plano, Texas, USA, April 29, 2021 - Diodes Incorporated (Nasdaq: DIOD) has expanded its family of voltage-to-level converters with the introduction of the PI4ULS3V304AQ. This advanced level-shifting technology is extremely flexible in use and is important for modern automotive designs. It solves the problem faced by lower voltage microprocessors and microcontrollers integrated into automotive systems that need to drive external devices (such as sensors and EMI filters) that operate at different voltage levels than their own.
This configurable 4-bit IC is capable of high-speed operation, guaranteeing a data transfer rate of 140Mbps. It provides bidirectional voltage level conversion, enabling the increasingly common push-pull product applications.
Two different power rails can be tracked through the A and B ports of the PI4ULS3V304AQ. This IC can provide 0.9V to 2.0V conversion on the A port and 1.65V to 3.6V conversion on the B port. When driven by a full 100pF capacitor, the propagation delay is kept within 13ns. This device meets the AEC-Q100 Grade 1 level specification and is very suitable for use in automobiles. Its main product applications are suitable for infotainment, driver assistance and in-vehicle information and communication.
The product has an operating temperature range of -40°C to 125°C and incorporates 2kV electrostatic discharge (ESD) protection. The innovative output enable (EN) function means that either of the two I/O ports (A or B) of the PI4ULS3V304AQ can be turned off when not in use to reduce power consumption. Automatic bidirectional operation eliminates the need for a direction control pin.
Diodes' PI4ULS3V304AQ is available in a 12-pin UQFN package.
