Recently, a Tesla patent called "Electromagnetic Wiper System" was officially granted on January 12 this year. The patent was first formally submitted in March 2019 and made public in early September. This new patented technology shows a single wiper design that can move laterally on the windshield. Unlike traditional arc-shaped rotary wipers, Tesla's new wipers will have the same movements as humans. It replaces a rotating motor arm with a pair of tracks, that is, two electromagnetic tracks are placed at the bottom and top of the windshield. These two tracks push the electromagnets on the wiper arms, pushing the wipers back and forth. The principle is similar to that of a maglev train.

Tesla said that traditional wiper systems usually use electric motors to move one or more wiper blades to clean the car's windshield. The assembly of such systems includes several mechanical parts, such as gears and bearings to make the wiper arms slide on the windshield. This mechanical sliding motion generates greater friction during operation and consumes more electricity. If it is an electric car, it will reduce the range of the electric car. In addition, traditional wipers will rust and wear, which may reduce the efficiency of cleaning the windshield, which is particularly serious in areas with frequent rain.

Tesla believes that it is necessary to design a completely new wiper system that can clean better and last longer. Tesla uses a "linear actuator that may include a guide rail and an electromagnetic moving block" in the design of its electromagnetic wiper system to form a "simplified linear single wiper." Tesla describes the working principle of its wiper assembly as follows.

The electromagnetic wiper system may include a linear actuator, which may include a guide rail and an electromagnetic moving block. The guide rail includes a plurality of permanent magnetic strips that may be arranged horizontally along the curvature of the vehicle windshield. The electromagnetic moving block may function as an electromagnetic train, including a plurality of perforations and at least one electromagnetic coil surrounding the plurality of perforations in the electromagnetic moving block, and the linear motion of the electromagnetic moving block through the plurality of permanent magnetic strips may be controlled to manipulate the wiper arm, which may be coupled to the electromagnetic moving block to wipe a determined area back and forth in the lateral direction of the entire windshield, for example, the entire transparent area of the windshield (i.e., an area close to a percentage). This may produce minimal friction during the linear motion of the electromagnetic moving block.

In any case,  Cybertruck  is   an unprecedented marketing success. It has successfully earned traffic while also emptying the wallets of pickup truck fans. As one of Musk's favorite products so far, I hope it will be a really cool and practical pure electric pickup truck when it rolls off the production line at the end of this year  .
