Recently, according to foreign media reports, SK Telecom will cooperate with Jaguar Land Rover to provide customized car navigation services for its models. It is reported that this service will be applied in 5G networks and will be first installed in Jaguar Land Rover models sold in the Korean market.
SK Telecom said that through telematics technology, personalized infotainment services can be realized for vehicles. The company will combine the high-precision map built based on T Map with the vehicle system to provide customized real-time traffic information for car owners and quickly and accurately give navigation information. In addition, the service can also provide charging station information for electric car owners and plan the best route according to the battery status of the vehicle, such as adding passing charging stations as stopovers during driving.
According to SK Telecom, the company has always wanted to combine the in-vehicle infotainment system with the 5G network to provide car owners with more convenient mobile travel services. This is also one of the development directions of its autonomous driving car technology.
Jaguar Land Rover is not the first automaker to cooperate with SK Telecom. Previously, Volvo also used the in-vehicle infotainment system provided by SK Telecom in its models sold in the Korean market. Car owners can upgrade the service applications at any time via wireless network.
