Recently, the China Electricity Council and the CHAdeMO Association (Japan Electric Vehicle Fast Charger Association) jointly released the fast charging standard CHAdeMO 3.0. The new CHAdeMO 3.0 standard will reach 500kW in DC charging power, corresponding to a maximum current of 600A.

It is worth mentioning that the new CHAdeMO 3.0 standard is compatible with previous CHAdeMO versions, GB/T (this is the key point), CCS and other fast charging systems of different standards, and can also be adapted to Tesla in the future. In addition, although the maximum current of CHAdeMO 3.0 fast charging reaches 600A, its cable diameter is smaller, the volume is smaller, and liquid cooling technology is used for cooling.

In addition, the biggest difference from the current mainstream CSS standard is that the CHAdeMO standard has been designed with bidirectional charging and discharging as its core function. It can not only charge electric vehicles, but also recycle and sell electricity to the power grid.

Let's talk about the charging time that everyone is concerned about. According to official statements, under the new standard, electric vehicles can add more than 200km of range in 5 minutes of charging. This charging speed can fully meet travel needs. In comparison, the maximum charging power of Tesla's V3 fast charger, which has been put into commercial use, is only 250kW, and charging for 5 minutes can only provide 120km of range.

Since CHAdeMO 3.0 is compatible with GB/T, when can we use it? I am looking forward to it.
