Recently, TUV Rheinland Group (hereinafter referred to as "TUV Rheinland") issued the ISO 26262 functional safety management certificate to Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Huawei") for its MDC intelligent driving computing platform. This is the first automotive functional safety management certificate Huawei has obtained, marking that it has established a product development process system that meets the highest level of automotive functional safety "ASIL D". Based on the Huawei MDC platform and supporting tool chain, automakers or ecological partners can quickly develop intelligent driving applications for different scenarios that meet the safety requirements of the automotive industry, which will help promote the safe development of intelligent driving.

ISO 26262 automotive functional safety standard is a global standard established by the International Organization for Standardization in 2011. The standard covers functional safety requirements planning, design, implementation, integration, verification, validation, configuration and other aspects. It aims to minimize the risk of automotive electrical or electronic system failures through a sound development process. The latest version was officially released in December 2018. At present, ISO 26262 functional safety management certification has become one of the entry barriers for electronic component suppliers to enter the automotive industry.
Since its inception, Huawei's Intelligent Automotive Solutions BU has always placed product functional safety management and certification work at the top of its priority list. Safety is a basic requirement for intelligent driving, and the intelligent driving computing platform is highly technically complex, making safety even more challenging. Passing the ISO 26262 functional safety management certification is a new starting point in the development of Huawei's MDC intelligent driving computing platform, which will enhance and ensure the functional safety of the product. Under the escort of automotive functional safety management certification, it will help the intelligent driving industry enter the fast lane more safely.
