During driving, potholes on the road can cause damage to the vehicle's tires and suspension system. When passing through some extreme roads, the driver's distraction can cause more serious consequences.
Ford has developed a new suspension system to address the above situation. When the vehicle enters a bumpy road, the body height sensor can detect the initial movement of the suspension system, and the body stability system can promptly determine whether the wheel is adjusted into the pothole. If the judgment is true, the shock absorber valve will be quickly closed within 2 milliseconds to prevent damage to the suspension.
At the same time, Ford has also developed a perception kit that uses cameras, lidar and other equipment to draw a map of the vehicle's forward route, thereby issuing an early alarm when the vehicle approaches a pothole. When the driver receives the signal, he can avoid damage to the suspension system and wheels. More practically, it avoids expensive repair and maintenance costs in the future.
