1. The evolution of motorcycle ABS system:

The earliest anti-lock braking system was applied to aircraft in 1929. It was jointly developed by the French Automobile Company and the pioneer of the aviation industry, Gabriel Voisin, to enable the aircraft to have a deceleration performance close to the braking limit when landing. At that time, it was impossible to have electronic sensors and ECUs for judgment, and a purely mechanical structure was used.

The system uses a flywheel and a valve to connect the brake hydraulic pipeline. The flywheel is installed on a roller that rotates at the same speed as the tire. Generally, the speed of the roller and the flywheel should be the same. When the tire decelerates, the speed of the roller synchronized with the tire also decreases. At this time, the speed of the flywheel increases relatively. When the speed difference between the flywheel and the roller reaches the setting, the hydraulic pipeline valve will be opened, causing a small amount of brake oil to bypass the master pump and reduce the braking force.

Tests have shown that this system improves braking effect by 30%. This is mainly because the pilot does not need to slowly increase braking to find the maximum braking force, but only needs to brake with full force. At the same time, this also reduces the risk of tire blowouts.

3. ABS and Motorcycles

In 1970, the anti-lock braking system had changed from a mechanical design to an electronic design, and major automobile manufacturers have gradually applied this system to their products. The ST1100 launched by HONDA in 1992 was the first Japanese motorcycle equipped with ABS. However, at that time, ABS components were mainly developed for automobiles. Although the weight and volume were much smaller than in the 1970s, they were still a burden for motorcycles. Therefore, most of the heavy and large-sized touring models were equipped with ABS.

From being installed only on large SUVs in the early days, to now also being installed on large-sized cars or scooters.

introduction The Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) can effectively prevent the wheels from locking during braking, thereby avoiding steering failure and tail swinging caused by wheel locking, and ensuring safe braking of the vehicle. Among them, the controller (i.e., electronic control unit, ECU) is the contro
