Cypress Semiconductor Corporation recently announced that Tesla Motors has selected the TrueTouch automotive touchscreen solution for the infotainment system of its Model S, the world's first high-end electric vehicle. The 17-inch touchscreen in the Model S is the largest screen in a mass-produced car to date and the first touchscreen to integrate all functional controls. The TrueTouch solution provides design flexibility and multi-touch experience for the Model S, fully meeting the user's requirements under various harsh conditions.
“To meet the demands of a 17-inch touchscreen, we looked for a partner that could ensure support for the largest touchscreen in the automotive industry, with a flexible, reliable and high-endurance architecture to meet every possible challenge,” said Craig Carlson, vice president of software and electrical integration at Tesla. “Cypress demonstrated absolute leadership in the touch market and worked proactively to meet our design requirements. From the outset, Cypress’ TrueTouch solution provided outstanding accuracy, speed and linearity.”
“Tesla’s Model S is a truly revolutionary vehicle, and we are delighted that our TrueTouch automotive solution will power the Model S center console,” said Hassane El-Khoury, executive vice president of Cypress’s Programmable Systems Business Unit. “The Model S touchscreen showcases the power of TrueTouch and the flexibility of our solution, enabling the world’s first and largest fully integrated infotainment touchscreen while delivering the industry’s best user experience.”
