On September 22, the "East Data West Computing" Qingyang cluster, which was invested, designed, constructed and operated by China Energy Construction China Power Engineering, and EPC general contracted by Guangdong Institute and Construction Group, held an unveiling and commissioning "lighting up" event at the Gansu Qingyang "East Data West Computing" integrated source, network, load and storage smart zero-carbon big data industrial park with the largest scale and highest standards under construction, providing strong support for the computing power supply of the national hub (Gansu) node of the national integrated computing power network.

The Qingyang project is China Energy Construction’s first “digital-energy integration” project to implement the country’s “East Data West Computing” strategy. It is also the first “East Data West Computing” project to receive support from national policy-based development financial instruments.

The total investment of the project is about 5.5 billion yuan. It is the first ultra-large, high-power, fully indirect evaporative cooling commercial intelligent computing center in the Qingyang cluster of the National Data Center, including supporting new energy and computing power infrastructure.

The total land area of the project data center is about 110 acres, with a total construction area of about 89,000 square meters. Four national standard A-level green and low-carbon data centers will be built. The design and construction are equivalent to 24,000 2.5-kilowatt standard cabinets with a total power of 60,000 kilowatts.

At present, the project's self-built supporting 110 kV substation and production auxiliary facilities have been fully completed and put into operation, the three data buildings have been capped, the A1 data building has been officially put into use and 72% of the cabinets have been removed, and the first batch of about 1,700 8-12 kW cabinets have begun to provide high-quality services to customers. According to the plan, the A2 data building has completed the civil engineering and will be put into operation at the end of the year, and the A3 and A4 data buildings will be gradually put into operation according to customer needs.

In August this year, the Qingyang project, featuring the integration of computing power and green electricity, was selected as one of the first batch of "Excellent Cases of National Integrated Computing Network Application" by the National Data Bureau. The project pioneered the "source-grid-load-storage integration" green integrated power supply solution, and built a 200-megawatt new energy power station to supply power to the data center in a medium- and long-term market transaction model, ensuring green, stable and low-cost energy supply. Combined with the "photovoltaic-storage-direct-flexible" building integrated energy utilization system, the data center energy use has achieved the unity of high reliability and high energy efficiency.

The project adopts advanced design concepts and has a complete operation and maintenance management system to meet the needs of the new generation of data centers. It has the characteristics of green energy saving, economical and applicable, flexible adjustment, safe and reliable. The power and equipment structure of the data center equipment can be flexibly and quickly matched according to the user's update needs. At present, the power of the data center cabinets is mainly native 8 kW and 12 kW, and is equipped with some 25 kW cold plate liquid cooling cabinets.

After the project is fully put into production, it is estimated that the carbon dioxide emissions for the data center park will be reduced by approximately 250,000 tons each year, which will be conducive to promoting the creation of a trillion-level digital and energy integration industrial chain and assisting the high-quality development of the green economy, digital economy, and sharing economy.

Relevant persons in charge from China Energy Engineering Northwest Regional Headquarters, China Electric Power Engineering, Guangdong Institute and Construction Group attended the event.
