Since the beginning of this year, Tai'an City's new energy industry chain task force has followed the instructions of the provincial and municipal party committees on expanding and strengthening the energy storage industry. It has insisted on starting from the salt cavern energy storage industry, which has the most resource endowment, the most regional characteristics, and the most growth potential, and has made every effort to build an energy storage industry cluster that integrates salt mining and production, energy storage and gas storage, equipment manufacturing, and the entire chain of source, grid, load and storage. It has embarked on a new energy industry development path with Tai'an characteristics of "government guidance, enterprise as the main body, and market operation", and has focused on building a nationally renowned "energy storage capital".

Through the trial implementation of ice-breaking projects and the leadership of demonstration projects, we have successively built the Tai'an pumped-storage power station with the largest installed capacity in the province at that time, the world's first Feicheng 10MW advanced compressed air energy storage demonstration power station, and the world's largest China National Energy Feicheng 300MW compressed air energy storage power station. We are currently building the country's first Shouhang Hi-Tech carbon dioxide molten salt energy storage demonstration project and the 1800MW Tai'an Phase II pumped-storage power station. We are planning to build the country's largest Feicheng 100MW flywheel energy storage project and the world's largest China National Energy 660MW salt cavern compressed air energy storage project. We have initially established a new diversified energy storage system supported by pumped storage, salt cavern energy storage, and electrochemical energy storage, and supplemented by hydrogen production storage, heat storage, and gas storage.

As of the end of June, Tai'an City has built three new energy storage projects and put into operation an installed capacity of 1.37 million kilowatts, ranking first in the province. It is expected to rapidly develop to 6 million kilowatts by 2025 and exceed 10 million kilowatts by 2030, becoming the country's largest "energy storage capital" with the largest installed capacity of new and diversified energy storage, and making Tai'an's contribution to accelerating the transformation of new and old kinetic energy and building a pilot zone for green, low-carbon and high-quality development in the province.
