A key partnership that will significantly accelerate the deployment of public and private electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure in the UK has been announced today. The technology-first utility has joined forces with Pozitive Energy, the UK’s largest independent energy supplier, and Landis+Gyr, a leading Swiss provider of energy management solutions, to drive a significant transformation in the UK’s EV charging landscape.
LONDON , Nov. 29, 2023 /PRNewswire/ -- The partnership will introduce a unique delivery model, providing businesses nationwide with a comprehensive end-to-end electric vehicle charging infrastructure including Landis+Gyr's advanced EV charging solutions, allowing for complete installation and management, enabling them to benefit from a fixed national price and 'tap and pay' process, with the opportunity to earn income or offset energy bills through the use of the charge points.
This collaboration will help electric vehicle users and corporate customers deploying electric vehicles to charge more conveniently and easily, while helping to promote the rapid development of electric vehicle infrastructure in the UK and narrow the gap with other European countries.
Nathan Daniels, head of electric vehicles at Pozitive Energy, said: “Through our collaboration with Landis+Gyr, we will bring significant progress to the UK electric vehicle market and work together to achieve net zero emissions and low carbon targets.”
"For too long, the country's EV charging infrastructure has been a barrier to consumers adopting electric vehicles. Working with Landis+Gyr, we have developed a unique approach to EV charging that provides UK businesses with revenue opportunities while providing drivers with a more reliable, easier-to-use charging network, allowing us all to benefit from the continued development of EV infrastructure."
“As a technology-led business energy supplier, we are uniquely positioned to deliver future-proof EV charging solutions, ensuring users receive exceptional automation and ease of use while taking into account all regulatory and legislative changes.”
Once the deployment is complete, Pozitive Energy will have built the UK’s largest electric vehicle charging network.
Rob Harper, UK & Ireland Sales Director at Landis+Gyr, concluded: "This partnership provides corporate customers with a unique opportunity to drive the development of much needed EV charging infrastructure. The deployment of Landis+Gyr chargers and all the associated contactless payment terminals will allow drivers to pay without the need for a mobile app. The deployment of the EV chargers will be delivered by leveraging the strong IT capabilities of both companies. We look forward to seeing this network continue to grow as we look to more efficiently manage energy."
Pozitive Energy plans to install 30,000 Landis+Gyr electric vehicle charging stations across the UK over the next five years, making it one of the largest charge point operators (CPOs) in the UK.
