Private sector investments in American-made battery technology have been increasing over the past few years, with 208 as of September 2023. The federal government also announced 27 new investments.
The map below shows the locations of new announcements for mineral mining and processing, battery component manufacturing, battery cell manufacturing, and battery pack manufacturing. This includes officially announced mines of lithium, cobalt, and other battery minerals; battery mineral processing facilities; facilities that produce battery components; and commercial and pilot-scale cell and battery pack manufacturing. More than $100 billion in investments (private and federal) are expected to create more than 75,000 jobs.
Note: Many facilities are dependent on funding, capital, site control, and other factors.
