On July 31, the groundbreaking ceremony for the 100MW/200MWh independent shared energy storage power station projects in Weng'an and Luodian, Guizhou Jinyuan, was held in Weng'an and Luodian, respectively. Both projects started construction this time are independent energy storage demonstration projects in Guizhou Province in 2023. The implementation of the two projects has played a positive role in promoting the development of new energy in Guizhou Province and the stable operation of the power grid.
As a traditional hydropower generation enterprise, Guizhou Jinyuan Mengjiang Hydropower Plant conscientiously implements the development concept of the group company and Guizhou Jinyuan, and vigorously expands new energy and comprehensive smart energy projects in accordance with the development requirements of the group company's "four transformations". As the maximum peak-to-valley difference of the Guizhou power grid increases year by year, especially in the power industry, large-scale and high-proportion new energy is connected to the power system, the proportion of new energy installed capacity continues to increase, and the dual-high characteristics are increasingly prominent. The safe and stable operation of the power system faces challenges, and the system form needs to complete the transformation from "source-grid-load" to "source-grid-load-storage". Due to the insufficient peak-shaving capacity of the power grid, new energy power stations have abandoned wind and solar power.
After the project is put into operation, it can alleviate the pressure on the system caused by the randomness, volatility and intermittency of new energy, promote the consumption of new energy, be beneficial to the safe and stable operation of the power system, be beneficial to meeting the peak demand in winter, avoid the adverse situation of off-peak electricity consumption, and be beneficial to the development of the upstream and downstream battery industry chain in our province. It is of great significance to the construction of a new power system.
In the next step, Guizhou Jinyuan Mengjiang Hydropower Plant will comprehensively strengthen safety and quality management and project progress management. The two energy storage projects will each build 30 sets of prefabricated cabin-type energy storage units with a capacity of 100 MW/200 MWh, and a 110 kV booster station will be built in conjunction. Both projects will be connected to an 11 kV substation near the project site.
