According to incomplete statistics from the International Energy Network/PV Headlines (PV-2005) based on public information, from April 1 to April 30, about 54 inverter bidding projects were finalized, with a total capacity of 23.32GW. Among the winning companies, Huawei, Sungrow Power Supply, KSTAR, TBEA, Sineng Electric, Oriental Hitachi, Ginlong Technology, GoodWe, Zhuzhou Converter, Hopewind Electric and other companies won the bid.
In addition, companies such as Three Gorges, Huadian, China Coal, China Resources, China National Nuclear Corporation, Aviation Industry Corporation of China, China Railway Signal and Communication Corporation, and China Southern Power Grid have announced 32 bidding projects with a total capacity of approximately 17.86GW.
Huawei, Sunshine and KSTAR lead the list of successful bidders
According to statistics from the International Energy Network/Photovoltaic Headlines (PV-2005), in the domestic inverter bidding market from April 1 to April 30, 33 companies including Huawei, Sungrow Power Supply, KSTAR, TBEA, Sineng Electric, Oriental Hitachi, Ginlong Technology, GoodWe, Zhuzhou Converter, and Hopewind Electric jointly won 23.32GW of inverter bidding purchase orders.
Among them, Huawei won 1,408MW, ranking first; Sungrow won 976MW, ranking second; KSTAR won 800MW, ranking third. In addition, TBEA, Sineng Electric, Oriental Hitachi, Ginlong Technology, GoodWe, Zhuzhou Converter, Hopewind Electric and other companies also won bids for multiple inverter procurement projects.
In terms of price, the lowest-priced bidding project in April was the first bidding section of the 2023 Inverter Framework Agreement Procurement Tender of China Huaneng Group Co., Ltd. This section procures centralized inverters of 3.125MW and above with a procurement capacity of 1,000MW. TBEA was one of the successful bidders with a bid price of 98.5 million yuan, equivalent to a unit price of 0.0985 yuan/W.
The highest bid project is the procurement of string photovoltaic inverter equipment for China Resources Power Yiliang Zhangguanying 40MW composite photovoltaic project. The project purchases 320kW and below string inverters, with a bidding capacity of 40MW. Oriental Hitachi (Chengdu) Electric Control Equipment Co., Ltd. is the first candidate for the bid, with a bid price of 5.427 million yuan, equivalent to a unit price of 0.136 yuan/W.
23.32GW inverter procurement
State-owned enterprises account for 99.4%, who is the winner?
According to the information of public bidding, 13 enterprises and 54 inverter procurement projects (bid sections) were awarded from April 1 to April 30, with a total capacity of 23.32GW. Among them, there were 50 procurement projects of central enterprises with a total capacity of 23.18GW, accounting for 99.4% of the total capacity.
In terms of purchasing companies, 10 central enterprises including CNNC, Huaneng, SPIC, CNPC, PowerChina, China Resources, CGN, State Grid, China Railway Signal & Communication, and China Southern Power Grid all have inverter procurement project bidding.
Among them, the project with the largest bidding capacity in this statistical period is the centralized procurement of inverter equipment by CNNC Huineng in 2023, with a procurement capacity of 6.6GW. Nine inverter companies including Sineng Electric, KSTAR, TBEA, Sungrow Power Supply, Zhuzhou Converter, Huawei, GoodWe, Kehua Data, and Hopewind Electric finally won the bid.
During this statistical period, Huaneng also had annual centralized procurement project bidding. On April 9, China Huaneng Group Co., Ltd.'s 2023 inverter framework agreement procurement bidding determined the winners. Zhuzhou Conversion, Kehua Data, Huawei, Sungrow Power Supply, Sineng Electric, and TBEA were the final winners.
On April 17, the first batch of e-commerce procurement (photovoltaic inverter) projects in 2023 of the State Power Investment Corporation's Material and Equipment Branch and Dian Neng Yi Gou (Beijing) Technology Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of the State Power Investment Corporation, were determined by the winners. The project is divided into three bidding sections, purchasing centralized inverters and string inverters. Huawei, Sungrow Power Supply, KSTAR, TBEA, Sineng Electric, Ginlong Technology, GoodWe, Zhuzhou Converter, Xuji Relay, Hopewind Electric, INVT, Rifeng Electric, and Shouhang New Energy 13 companies finally won the 5.65GW inverter purchase order from the State Power Investment Corporation. In this statistical period, PetroChina has 3.376GW inverter projects awarded. 14 inverter companies including Huawei, Sungrow Power Supply, Kehua Data, Chint Power, Sineng Electric, Hopewind Electric, Rifeng Electric, Oriental Hitachi, Ginlong Technology, KSTAR, Shouhang New Energy, Colin Electric, TBEA, and Zhuzhou Converter won the bid.
CNPC's annual inverter procurement project is divided into three packages. Lot 1 purchases centralized inverters, and Lot 2 and Lot 3 purchase string inverters. Chint Power has been shortlisted as a candidate for the first and second phases of Lot 2 and Lot 3.
As a leading company in the inverter field, Chint Power has accumulated more than 10 years of photovoltaic inverter technology. In the field of string inverters, its products cover both household and industrial and commercial distributed inverters with power levels of 20-120kW, as well as high-power string inverters such as 250kW suitable for large ground power stations. Taking the 250kW string inverter as an example, this inverter is equipped with IP66 high waterproof and dustproof level and C5 level corrosion resistance, DC switch, anti-PID module and other functions, which can ensure safe operation without derating in high temperature and high humidity environments.
China Power Construction Corporation has 33 projects under bidding during this statistical period, and 22 companies including Huawei, GoodWe, Sungrow Power Supply, Kehua Data, Sineng Electric, KSTAR, Hopewind Electric, and Zhuzhou Converter won the bid.
China Resources Group has 6 projects under bidding in this statistical period, and Dongfang Hitachi (Chengdu) Electric Control Equipment Co., Ltd. won 4 of them, with a total bid capacity of 464.28MW. The other two projects were won by Jiangsu Zhongyue Digital Energy Co., Ltd. and Sineng Electric.
CGN had two projects bid during this statistical period, with a total capacity of 189.7MW. Kehua Data and Huawei performed well and eventually won the bid.
The State Grid has three projects under bidding in this statistical period, with a total capacity of 29.28MW. Huawei won the bid for 15MW, ranking first. Sungrow won the bid for 10MW, and Ningbo Aux Yongneng Technology Co., Ltd. won the bid for 4.275MW, with a unit price of 0.124 yuan/W.
China Railway Signal & Communication Corporation has one project bidding in this statistical period. The project is the procurement of inverters for the 20MW distributed photovoltaic power generation project in Lingqiu County with a capacity of 20MW. Shanxi Tianhu Technology Co., Ltd. finally won the bid.
There is one project bidding in the current statistical period of the State Grid Corporation of China. The project is the procurement of inverters for the second phase distributed photovoltaic power generation project of the smart standard factory building in Shixing Industrial Park and the roof photovoltaic power generation project of Shixing County People's Hospital, with a capacity of 1.49MW. Hopewind Electric finally won the bid.
Huawei won 11 projects
The winning bid capacity is 1407.7MW
During this statistical period, Huawei performed impressively, ranking first in the list of winning bids, winning 11 projects (sections) from State Grid, PowerChina, China National Nuclear Corporation, Guangzhou Development, CNPC, State Power Investment Corporation and other companies, with a total winning capacity of 1,407.7MW.
Among them, the project with the largest capacity that Huawei won in this statistical period was the first batch of e-commerce procurement (photovoltaic inverters) of State Power Investment Corporation in 2023. Huawei won the bid for Section 1 of 1500V string type above 196kW, with a procurement capacity of 1,100MW.
China Huaneng Group Co., Ltd.'s 2023 Inverter Framework Agreement Procurement Lot 3. This lot procures string inverters of 300kW and below, with a procurement capacity of 4,000MW. Huawei, as one of the successful bidders, has been successfully shortlisted for the list of successful bidders.
In addition, Huawei has been shortlisted for the annual centralized procurement projects of CNNC and CNPC.
Sungrow won bids for 10 projects
The winning bid capacity is 975.7MW
During this statistical period, Sungrow won bids for 10 projects (sections) from State Grid, PowerChina, Guangzhou Development, CNPC, CNNC, SPIC, Beijing Energy Group and other companies, with a confirmed winning capacity of 975.7MW.
The lowest bidder was China Huaneng Group Co., Ltd.'s 2023 inverter framework agreement procurement bid section 3. This bid section procures 300kW and below string inverters with a procurement capacity of 4,000MW. Sungrow, as one of the successful bidders, bid 502 million yuan, equivalent to a unit price of 0.126 yuan/W.
The highest bid project was the inverter equipment procurement for Guangzhou Development Kaiping 10MW and Jiaoling 62.37MW photovoltaic power generation projects, with a procurement capacity of 56MW. Sungrow was the successful bidder with a bid price of RMB 7.2744 million, equivalent to a unit price of RMB 0.13/W.
In addition, it is worth noting that Sungrow has been shortlisted for two bidding sections for the centralized procurement of inverter equipment in 2023 by CNPC and CNNC Energy.
KSTAR won the bid for 5 projects
