Recently, CATL's first overseas factory in Thuringia, Germany, achieved mass production of lithium-ion battery cells as scheduled, marking a milestone breakthrough in CATL's global development.

The first batch of battery cells of CATL's German factory were successfully unloaded from the first battery cell production line of G2 plant. The installation and commissioning of the remaining production lines are in full swing to smoothly achieve ramp-up and production.

This batch of battery cells passed all the tests that CATL's global products must pass, which means that CATL has the local production and supply capabilities for European customers.

"The German factory has achieved battery cell production as scheduled, demonstrating that we are a reliable partner in the industry and will remain committed to our customers and Europe's electrification transformation even in the face of various risks and challenges, including the COVID-19 pandemic," said Matthias Zentgraf, co-president of CATL Europe. "We are working hard to increase the factory's production capacity, which will be our top priority next year."

In April this year, CATL's German factory officially obtained a license for 8GWh of battery cell production in Thuringia. Prior to this, the factory had started module production in the G1 plant in the third quarter of 2021.

CATL's German factory plans a total investment of 1.8 billion euros, with a planned production capacity of 14GWh, and will provide a total of 2,000 jobs locally in the future.
