Since the 18th CPC National Congress, Jiangsu people have used the land as paper and struggle as a brush to transform General Secretary Xi Jinping's grand blueprint of a "strong, prosperous, beautiful and high-quality" new Jiangsu from "freehand brushwork" to "detailed brushwork", and the province's comprehensive strength, core competitiveness, and development influence have reached a new level. The realization of all this is inseparable from "reform", a magic weapon derived from practice.

Recently, during the prime time of Jiangsu Satellite TV, a large-scale all-media interview titled "Striving in Deep Waters - A Tour of Reforms in 13 Cities" was jointly launched by the Reform Office of the Jiangsu Provincial Committee, Jiangsu Radio and Television General Station and 13 cities across the province. The multi-scene, immersive interview went into the Tianmu Lake Advanced Energy Storage Technology Research Institute to dig deep into the innovative and leading reform achievements and perceive the vitality of comprehensively deepening reform and innovation in a strong, prosperous, beautiful and high-tech Jiangsu.

The reporter drove the new energy electric car to the next stop: Tianmu Lake Advanced Energy Storage Technology Research Institute. This institute was jointly built by the Institute of Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Liyang Municipal Government, providing the "strongest brain" for the development of the new energy industry.

When the reporter came to the laboratory, Yin Liang from Tianmu Lake Advanced Energy Storage Technology Research Institute introduced: "We are doing research on manganese-based positive electrode materials for lithium-ion batteries. Now the cost of batteries mainly comes from raw materials, which accounts for a very large proportion. Therefore, we will use some low-priced elements, such as manganese, which can greatly reduce the cost of batteries. Because now a very important point for the survival of enterprises is to control costs, now we can reduce its costs and increase its profits on the raw material side. The most intuitive performance on the consumer side is that new energy vehicles can be bought at a cheaper price. Our institute has incubated 14 companies and has made some achievements in various fields of batteries.

Dr. Yin introduced: When the research institute was established, the government invested over 100 million yuan in the company to purchase equipment and build high-tech platforms. When the company was recruiting talents, the government also provided many policies for talent programs, including the Changzhou Longcheng Talent Program. In terms of enterprise incubation, the government also provided a lot of help, including introducing capital and providing preferential policies when industrializing.

In the new energy sector, TIES has seized the initiative and continued to carry out strategic, forward-looking, and fundamental research on key core technologies, promoting the rapid development of a new generation of energy storage technologies and presenting an excellent answer to the 20th National Congress.
