China Energy Storage Network News: From May 28th to 29th, Hunan welcomed strong winds. Due to the combined influence of multiple factors such as the large-scale development of new energy and hydropower, and the decline in weekend load, the new energy consumption of Hunan Power Grid faces great pressure of power abandonment. The Central China Interprovincial Peak-shaving Auxiliary Service Market gives full play to the role of mutual assistance between provinces. On the 28th and 29th, a total of 5 cross-provincial peak-shaving supports were organized for the Hunan Power Grid. Hubei, Jiangxi, and Henan provinces supported the Hunan Power Grid with a maximum peak-shaving power of 1.3 million kilowatts, and the cumulative transaction volume was 11.6 million kilowatt-hours. This is the first time that the Central China Interprovincial Peak-shaving Auxiliary Service has been successfully applied to the consumption of new energy in Hunan, and it is also the first time that the main body of the Hunan power market has participated in the Central China Interprovincial Peak-shaving Auxiliary Service Market as a power seller.

In recent years, the Central China Energy Regulatory Bureau, together with the Henan and Hunan Energy Regulatory Offices, has actively promoted the construction of the inter-provincial power auxiliary service market in Central China, and promoted the cross-provincial mutual assistance of peak-shaving resources and the sharing of spare capacity across the entire network through market mechanisms. Since its official operation in May 2020, the inter-provincial power peak-shaving and standby auxiliary service market in Central China has achieved remarkable results, tapping the maximum peak-shaving potential of the power grid of 2.4 million kilowatts, promoting the cross-provincial consumption of surplus new energy of more than 1 billion kilowatt-hours, and achieving a maximum cross-provincial sharing of spare capacity of 800,000 kilowatts.

At present, the Central China power peak load ancillary service market has truly become a regional platform for the four provinces of Hubei, Henan, Hunan and Jiangxi to actively participate, help each other and promote the full consumption and utilization of renewable energy. In the next step, the Central China Energy Regulatory Bureau will implement the requirements for building a unified national power market system, further revise and improve the "Central China Inter-provincial Power Peak Loading and Standby Ancillary Service Market Operation Rules", give full play to the advantages of the "moderate size" of regional power grids in resource allocation, make good use of the characteristics of the regional ancillary service market that is close to operation and service operation, continuously enhance market activity, give full play to the role of market mechanisms, and enhance the Central China power grid's ability to absorb renewable energy and the safety and economy of system operation.
