China Energy Storage Network: In implementing the carbon peak and carbon neutrality strategies, energy is the main battlefield and electricity is the main force. As the single industry with the largest share of carbon emissions in China, the emission reduction effect of electricity is crucial to achieving the "dual carbon" goals.

Data from the Guizhou power grid shows that over the past decade, the utilization rate of renewable energy power generation in Guizhou has remained above 99.9% all year round, achieving basically full absorption of new energy. The cumulative power generation of Guizhou's new energy is 55.363 billion kilowatt-hours, a cumulative reduction of 11.6 million tons of standard coal, and a reduction of 47.22 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions and 1.046 million tons of sulfur dioxide emissions.

At present, Guizhou is following the "dual carbon" goal requirements, adhering to clean, low-carbon, safe and efficient development, and accelerating the construction of a new power system with new energy as the main body. Project construction is in full swing, and efforts are being made to further transform energy advantages into development advantages and promote major industrial breakthroughs.

Accelerate the pace of promoting large-scale development

On December 7, at the construction site of the Baiquan 100MW agricultural photovoltaic project in Dushan County, construction workers and large-scale machinery and equipment were working intensively and orderly on the various working surfaces of the booster station. At present, the foundation of a 110kV booster station equipment of the project has been poured, and the line laying work is about to begin. It is expected to achieve the first grid connection by the end of December.

The 100MW agricultural photovoltaic project in Baiquan, Dushan County is a key project included in the first batch of new energy construction in Guizhou Province this year. Since the beginning of this year, Guizhou has stepped up its efforts to actively promote the large-scale development of new energy, and has successively issued three batches of new energy project construction plans, namely 5.77 million kilowatts of wind power, 7.64 million kilowatts of photovoltaic power in the first batch, and 8.25 million kilowatts of photovoltaic power in the second batch. The total of the three batches of projects has reached 21.66 million kilowatts, and 5.4 million kilowatts have been started.

"As an important area of carbon emissions, green and low-carbon energy is an inevitable trend in development." Liu Biyan, deputy director of the Guizhou Provincial Energy Bureau, said that around the "dual carbon" goals, Guizhou will accelerate the development of new energy industries, vigorously promote green mining and clean and efficient use of coal, and accelerate the construction of a clean, low-carbon, safe and efficient modern energy system.

Among them, Guizhou will vigorously promote the development of new energy industries and build million-kilowatt photovoltaic bases in Bijie, Liupanshui, Anshun, Southwest Guizhou and Qiannan. By 2025, the installed capacity of wind power and photovoltaic power generation will reach more than 40 million kilowatts, an increase of 139% over 2020, and the proportion of non-fossil energy consumption will reach more than 20%; by 2030, the installed capacity of wind power and photovoltaic power generation will reach more than 75 million kilowatts, an increase of 87.5% over 2025, and the proportion of non-fossil energy consumption will reach more than 25%. At the same time, geothermal energy and biomass energy will be vigorously promoted according to local conditions, and distributed photovoltaic pilot projects on rooftops throughout the county will be actively carried out.

Strengthen the power grid and smooth the grid connection channel

In the early morning of November 23, the Qianfeng double-circuit capacity expansion and transformation project of the 500 kV Xifeng substation in Guizhou Power Grid was successfully put into operation. The project can increase the clean energy consumption in Bijie area by more than 1 billion kWh per year, save more than 500,000 tons of standard coal, and reduce carbon emissions by more than 1.4 million tons.

In recent years, Guizhou Power Grid Company has made effective connections with the demand for new energy power transmission and has made every effort to smooth the new energy grid connection channels. By the end of 2020, a "three horizontal and one center" grid structure has basically been formed, which has greatly enhanced the large-scale new energy power transmission capacity in western Guizhou.

At present, Guizhou Power Grid has built projects such as the Wusa 500 kV transmission and transformation project, the 500 kV Bahe substation expansion project, the Jinzhou 500 kV substation main transformer expansion, and the Minghu 220 kV transmission and transformation project in the Guizhou power supply service area to ensure that new wind power and photovoltaic projects are connected to the grid and transmitted.

"In particular, the completion of the 500 kV Wusa substation is equivalent to building a 'highway' for the consumption of new energy in the northwestern Guizhou region. It not only clears the 'blocking points', but also effectively absorbs new energy such as photovoltaic and wind power in Bijie, Xingyi, Liupanshui, Anshun and other places." Liu Zhenming, general manager of the strategic planning department of Guizhou Power Grid Company, said that the key to absorbing new energy is to strengthen grid planning and construction, unblock transmission channels, and effectively support the access and grid connection of new energy.

In the first 10 months of this year, the installed capacity of new energy dispatched by Guizhou Power Grid Company reached 15.06 million kilowatts; the cumulative consumption of clean energy was 14.76 billion kilowatt-hours, an increase of 10.9% year-on-year; the daily power generation of new energy reached a maximum of 107 million kilowatt-hours; and the utilization rate of renewable energy remained above 99.9%.

During the 14th Five-Year Plan period, Guizhou will vigorously develop basic energy and clean and efficient power industries. In this regard, Liu Zhenming said that Guizhou Power Grid Company will accelerate the construction of key power grid projects for new energy consumption, accelerate the construction of a number of power transmission and transformation projects such as the 500 kV Shexiang to Yaxi transmission line, the 500 kV Xingren to Dushan transmission line, and the 500 kV Xishui substation, to solve the problem of new energy consumption in northern Guizhou.

Electricity substitution improves green energy use

On December 9, trucks were arriving one after another at the Qianxi Power Plant of Guizhou Jinyuan Group, including many electric heavy trucks. "This truck has low noise, low vibration, strong power, zero emissions, flexible control, simple maintenance, and load-carrying capacity is no different from traditional fuel trucks. My colleagues envy me for driving an electric truck," said Liang Dehong, a coal truck driver.

According to Wan Qiang, deputy general manager of Qianxi Power Plant, coal transportation has always had problems of high exhaust emissions and high costs. In May this year, the power plant's transportation fleet began to change, with electric heavy trucks gradually replacing traditional fuel vehicles. In addition to zero emissions, they can also save the power plant about 30% of transportation costs each month.

At present, Guizhou Jinyuan has built 5 smart battery swap stations and 32 charging piles in power plants such as Nayong, Qianbei, Yaxi, Chayuan, and Qianxi, achieving carbon emission reduction of 47,500 tons and saving 15,300 tons of fuel. The development of green electric transportation has taken shape.

In Guiyang, pure electric buses can be seen everywhere. "After the buses are electrified, the operating cost per 100 kilometers can be reduced by about 180 yuan. 75 pure electric vehicles can save nearly 6.8 million yuan in operating costs a year, and each vehicle can also reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 2,630 tons." said a relevant person in charge of Guiyang Public Transport Group Co., Ltd.

Nowadays, more and more green energy use methods have been reflected in the production of Guizhou enterprises and the lives of residents. In recent years, Guizhou has actively carried out electric energy substitution, accelerated the construction of charging and swapping infrastructure, and vigorously promoted "green transportation". This year, 4,000 charging piles have been added, fast charging stations have been built in 32 pairs of highway service areas, and electric heavy truck charging and swapping stations have been built in five power plants including Qianxi, Qianbei, Nayong, Chayuan, and Yaxi Power Plant, making electricity consumption cleaner.

Guizhou is a national ecological civilization pilot area, and clean transformation is even more important. Liu Biyan said that during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, Guizhou will focus on the "dual carbon" goals, accelerate the development of new energy such as wind energy, solar energy, biomass energy, and hydrogen energy, scientifically and rationally control the total energy consumption, promote the development of "source-grid-load-storage integration", and continuously improve the level of green energy use.
