On the morning of November 10, the construction of the 22MW/4.5MWh flywheel energy storage project of the Ningxia Electric Power Lingwu Company of the State Energy Group started. As the first full-capacity flywheel energy storage-thermal power combined frequency regulation project in China, it is also the world's largest single-unit flywheel energy storage with the largest single-unit storage capacity and power. It has broken through the technical bottleneck of 500-kilowatt-class high-power flywheel monomers and realized the application of high-power flywheel monomer projects.

The company has been accelerating the energy-saving upgrade and flexibility transformation of coal-fired power units, exploring the coupling of multiple energy technologies, breaking through the original scope of flexibility, low carbon and reliability development, and ensuring the cogeneration function while improving the flexibility and economic benefits of the units. The 22MW/4.5MWh flywheel energy storage project started this time is an emerging electric energy storage technology with good safety and environmental protection, strong deep charging and discharging capabilities, many charging and discharging times, high frequency regulation performance, wide temperature range, low cost, zero attenuation, zero maintenance, and high precision. After the implementation of the project, it will improve the frequency regulation performance of thermal power units, provide power auxiliary services, support the safe and stable operation of large power grids, and provide key technical support for the clean and efficient comprehensive utilization of coal in my country and the auxiliary consumption of new energy. After commissioning, the annual income from the primary frequency regulation of the power grid auxiliary service will reach 37.98 million yuan.
