From September 25th to 28th, the New Energy Vehicle Industry Development Achievement Exhibition was grandly held in Beijing. After layers of review, SAIC-GM-Wuling GSEV high-performance power battery system and Hongguang MINIEV were successfully selected for the achievement exhibition. Following Wuling chips and smart micro-swap stations, China's largest installed capacity GSEV high-performance power battery system debuted for the first time, demonstrating the "first driving force" to accelerate the development of China's new energy vehicles.
At the exhibition, Beijing Municipal Party Committee Secretary Cai Qi visited the SAIC-GM-Wuling booth and learned in detail about the market price of Hongguang MINIEV and the domestically produced chips used in the car. Cai Qi said repeatedly: "Very good, very good!"
The New Energy Vehicle Industry Development Achievement Exhibition was hosted by Beijing Municipal People's Government, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Transport, China Association for Science and Technology, and organized by China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Automotive Industry Branch. The theme was "Praise the 'New' Era and Accelerate the High-Quality Development of the New Energy Vehicle Industry", which fully demonstrated the achievements made in the development of my country's new energy vehicle industry. At the exhibition, my country's latest technological innovations, new products, and cutting-edge technology explorations in the field of new energy vehicles were all displayed.
Defining battery cell standards and achieving China's largest installed battery system
The GSEV high-performance power battery system, which was unveiled for the first time at this exhibition, is a scientific and technological innovation jointly developed by SAIC-GM-Wuling, Tsinghua University and Keyi Power. It has broken through the three bottleneck technologies of safety, durability and power of automotive lithium-ion power batteries, and achieved lightweight batteries while ensuring safety and reliability, making small batteries high in energy.
The battery cell is an important component and energy source of the battery, which directly determines the integrated structure of the power battery. For a long time, due to different understandings of technical routes, there have been differences in the versatility of battery packs and inconsistent power battery standards. Even the specifications and standards of different models and different types of batteries of the same brand are difficult to reach consistency, which has greatly affected the development of new energy vehicles. The GSEV high-performance power battery system is the first in the industry to define the GSEV standardized battery cell, changing the current situation of multiple varieties and small batches in the industry and truly standardizing the battery cell.
Standardization of battery cells can effectively reduce battery costs by 10% and improve the core supply capacity of batteries. Based on standardized battery cells, GSEV standardized battery packs are developed to adapt to multi-platform development and applications, and after adaptation and modification, they can be used for battery replacement and cascade utilization, thereby improving the utilization rate of batteries throughout their life cycle, forming an industrial closed loop, and setting a new benchmark for the industry.
Battery platformization provides multiple battery lifespans and promotes large-scale development of the industry chain
SAIC-GM-Wuling GSEV's high-performance power battery system has platform advantages and can be adapted to iterative models under the GSEV global small pure electric vehicle architecture platform. It can also be adapted to a variety of models and multiple endurance versions of 120km-300km, providing users with more choices and meeting personalized travel needs.
The standardization and platformization of batteries have promoted the sales of GSEV products. Among them, Hongguang MINIEV has been the sales champion of China's new energy vehicles for 12 consecutive months, and its cumulative sales exceeded 370,000 units in its first year on the market. At the same time, as the largest installed capacity of new energy vehicle battery system in the country, GSEV's high-performance power battery system has also driven the scale development of the entire new energy battery supporting industry chain and promoted the release of standards for micro electric vehicles in the industry.
On June 17 this year, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology publicly solicited opinions on the new version of the national standard "Technical Conditions for Pure Electric Passenger Vehicles". This revision of the national standard mainly added the definition and standard of micro low-speed pure electric passenger vehicles. The introduction of the new standard will create a new category of "micro-electric", which will surely have a huge driving effect on the rapid expansion of the market scale of micro-electric vehicles. As a pioneer in the small new energy vehicle market and a definer of many industry standards, SAIC-GM-Wuling has put forward constructive opinions and suggestions for the formulation of the new national standard for "micro-electric".
