According to the statistical analysis of the Power Battery Application Branch of the China Chemical and Physical Power Sources Industry Association, there were 72 power lithium-ion battery companies supporting new energy vehicles in my country in 2020, 7 fewer than in 2019, and the reshuffle of the power battery industry has further intensified. Compared with the top 10 in 2019, BAK Battery and Xinwangda fell out of the top 10 list, while the other 8 power battery companies remained stable in the top 10, and LG Chem and Ruipu Energy entered the top 10, and the head competition pattern was relatively stable.

In 2020, the cumulative installed capacity of lithium-ion batteries for new energy vehicles in my country reached 63.3GWh, a year-on-year increase of 1.8%. From the monthly installed capacity performance, affected by the epidemic, the monthly installed capacity of power batteries has been in negative growth in the first half of the year until it resumed rapid growth in the second half of the year.

In terms of battery types, the installed capacity of ternary power batteries in 2020 was 39.7GWh, a year-on-year decrease of 1.9%, accounting for 62.7% of the total installed capacity, down nearly 2 percentage points from 2019, with a total of 50 companies providing supporting services; the installed capacity of lithium iron phosphate power batteries was 23.2GWh, an increase of 11.7% year-on-year, accounting for 36.7% of the total installed capacity, an increase of nearly 3 percentage points from 2019, with a total of 34 companies providing supporting services; the installed capacity of other battery types was 0.4GWh, accounting for a total of 0.6%, of which the installed capacity of lithium manganese oxide batteries was 0.2GWh, accounting for 0.4%; and the installed capacity of lithium titanate batteries was 0.1GWh, accounting for 0.2%. 99% of ternary power batteries are equipped in passenger cars, with an installed capacity of 39.4GWh. Lithium iron phosphate and lithium manganese oxide power batteries are mainly equipped with buses, with installed capacities of 11.5GWh and 0.18GWh, respectively, accounting for 49.4% and 81.9% of their respective installed capacities. In addition, the proportion of lithium iron phosphate power batteries in the passenger car field has increased significantly by nearly 24 percentage points, accounting for 36.1% of the installed capacity of lithium iron phosphate power batteries.
