On April 29, the State Grid Information and Communication Industry Group held the "Artificial Intelligence White Paper Release and Artificial Intelligence Capability Platform Three-Year Achievements Release Conference" and revealed that the group will continue to increase investment in artificial intelligence, optimize business layout with technology-driven, and continue to promote the digital transformation of energy. Wang Zhengtao, chairman of the State Grid Information and Communication Industry Group, said that the group is an important force in the "new infrastructure" and promoting the application of emerging technologies such as 5G, artificial intelligence, big data, the Internet of Things, and blockchain in the energy industry is an important historical mission of the group.
Accelerating the development of a new generation of artificial intelligence is related to whether my country can seize the opportunities of a new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation. Wang Feng, deputy director of the Internet Department of State Grid, said that digitalization is a high-level stage of informatization, and artificial intelligence is an important part of State Grid's digitalization work and one of the core tasks of "new infrastructure".
It is understood that in terms of power artificial intelligence technology research and application, the State Grid Information and Communication Industry Group started early and took solid steps. Since 2017, the group has actively organized core professionals in related majors to form a joint working group of technical research teams, carried out research on key artificial intelligence technologies, participated in the construction of the State Grid Power System Artificial Intelligence Joint Laboratory, established the State Grid's first power artificial intelligence academician workstation, and independently developed an artificial intelligence capability platform.
Combining the research and practice of the development trend of artificial intelligence technology, the current status of the industry, and the professional application needs in the power field, State Grid Information and Communication Industry Group has formed an artificial intelligence product system of "1+4+3+N", that is, building a unified AI capability middle platform, relying on the platform to precipitate four resource libraries of voice, image, text, and video, and building three product series of smart patrol, smart service, and smart strategy based on the platform to create N artificial intelligence products.
After three years of development, State Grid Information and Communication Industry Group has formed three major product series, namely intelligent services, intelligent patrols and intelligent strategies, based on the artificial intelligence capability platform, and has successfully applied them to business areas such as power customer services, production operations, and business management. It supports the construction of power application scenarios such as State Grid Anhui Power, State Grid Xinjiang Power, and State Grid Aviation Company, and effectively improves the operating efficiency, power supply quality and safety level of the power grid.
Li Qiang, general manager of State Grid Information and Communication Industry Group, pointed out that the current power artificial intelligence technology is still in its early stages, with relatively scattered intelligent applications and a lack of unified platform support, and there is still a gap from full practical application. In the next stage, the development of power artificial intelligence needs to strengthen theoretical and practical technology research and innovation, unify the construction of a standard system, continue to expand and strengthen the artificial intelligence capability platform, and give full play to the role of artificial intelligence in application fields such as power construction, operation and inspection, safety supervision, marketing, and business management.
According to relevant plans, State Grid Information and Communication Industry Group will continue to increase its investment in artificial intelligence, use technology to drive the group to optimize its business layout, and under the leadership of State Grid's promotion of "new infrastructure", actively embrace the trend of deep integration of energy revolution and digital revolution, uphold the concept of "openness, sharing, equality and win-win", strengthen cooperation with energy companies, Internet companies, equipment manufacturing companies, universities and research institutions and other sectors of society, jointly promote the innovative development of artificial intelligence technology and industry, and continuously promote the digital transformation of energy.
