On March 22, the first tower of the ±800 kV Ya'an-Jiangxi UHV DC transmission project in Jiangxi Province, Tower 6007, was assembled. The tower weighs 109.9 tons and spans the ±800 kV Yibin-Jinhua UHV DC transmission project. The tower began to be assembled on March 18 and was completed on March 22.
The Yazhong-Jiangxi UHV project starts from the Yazhong converter station in Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan, passes through five provinces, including Sichuan, Yunnan, Guizhou, Hunan and Jiangxi, and ends at the Nanchang converter station in Fuzhou, Jiangxi. The designed transmission capacity is 8 million kilowatts and it is planned to be completed and put into operation in 2021. The Jiangxi section of the project passes through 10 counties (districts) in three cities, including Lianhua County, Pingxiang City, Anfu County, Ji'an City and Le'an County, Fuzhou City, with a total length of 319 kilometers and requires the construction of 641 new towers.
This project is the first UHV project to be implemented in Jiangxi. It will help Sichuan import clean energy, integrate Jiangxi's power grid into the national energy resource optimization allocation pattern, and ensure the continued high-quality development of Jiangxi's economy and society.
