Jiangsu Suzhou Power Supply Company recently released the "2019 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals Contribution Report", which comprehensively demonstrated the Suzhou Power Supply Company's initiatives and achievements in contributing to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Han Bin, Executive Secretary-General of the United Nations Global Compact China Network, affirmed this and believed that it has exemplary leadership.

It is understood that in recent years, the company has combined the characteristics of Suzhou power grid and regional features, focusing on three goals related to sustainable development and energy: ensuring everyone has access to affordable modern energy, building infrastructure with disaster resistance, and adopting sustainable consumption and production patterns. It has comprehensively carried out the construction of Suzhou as a model city for international energy transformation and development, and focused on building a modern energy supply system based on the power grid platform, exploring a "Suzhou path" for global energy transformation.

Think what customers want

Be a good "energy steward"

Suzhou Kunling Thin Film Industry Co., Ltd. is a large energy user. Wang Bangyu, the company's deputy general manager of engineering technology, said that the average monthly electricity consumption of about 2 million kWh is one of the main production costs. "Now with the help of the Suzhou Industrial Park Open Energy Internet Sharing Service Platform, the company's energy consumption is analyzed by big data, and unnecessary energy consumption is eliminated. The current energy consumption of the enterprise can be reduced by 3-5 percentage points. At the same time, the peak-shaving and valley-filling power storage plan formulated by the 'Energy Smart Manager' is used, and the annual cost savings are expected to reach 200,000 to 300,000 yuan." Wang Bangyu introduced.

The "energy service platform" mentioned by Wang Bangyu was jointly built by Suzhou Power Supply Company and Suzhou Industrial Park Management Committee. It integrates five modules: regional energy efficiency panorama, enterprise energy efficiency monitoring, comprehensive energy management, comprehensive energy service mall and social public services. It can provide energy efficiency data support for local government industrial transformation and upgrading, help enterprises reduce costs and increase efficiency, and enhance core competitiveness. The platform breaks through energy barriers such as water, electricity, gas, and heat to form an energy data network; at the subject level, it promotes ubiquitous interconnection among governments, energy service providers, energy users, etc., deeply explores data value, promotes industrial interconnection, and ultimately builds an energy Internet ecosystem to promote the comprehensive improvement of Suzhou's comprehensive energy efficiency.

According to statistics, since its launch in May 2019, the platform has connected to 3,302 electricity customers, provided more than 600 energy efficiency diagnosis reports, and discovered 97 energy efficiency improvement projects, with an estimated investment scale of 140 million yuan.

Strengthen your body and mind

Be the "Guardian" of Power Supply

There are no staff in the Huating power distribution room of Lantingyuan Community in Pingjiang Street. Instead, there are various intelligent sensors such as collectors and sensing terminals. They collect 28 types of data from the entire station, calculate and analyze them on the spot, and finally gather them into the "brain" of the distribution station - the distribution grid edge agent system.

Suzhou Ancient City District is the only historical and cultural city protection demonstration area in the country. Suzhou Power Supply Company has focused on building a world-class urban distribution network and ubiquitous power Internet of Things "two-network integration" demonstration area in this area, promoting the construction of an energy Internet architecture with holographic perception, platform integration, regional autonomy, and cross-regional collaboration in the area, comprehensively improving the quality of power supply and improving customers' electricity experience. Dong Xiaofeng, the project manager of the project, introduced that the edge proxy system enables each distribution grid to have an independent "brain". It is equipped with a high-performance industrial computer, an AI computing unit and customized software, which can achieve a high degree of autonomy within the grid area. "If a medium-voltage fault occurs, the system can lock the fault location within 1 second, isolate the fault within 30 seconds, and continue to supply power to customers through another line." Dong Xiaofeng said. Around the Spring Festival in 2020, Suzhou can achieve full coverage of "active repair" for 50,000 power supply customers in the ancient city.

At the same time, the system's "flexible" intelligent dispatching function can automatically carry out load mutual supply and mutual assistance between different transformer areas, and reduce peak loads and flatten valleys. Dong Xiaofeng introduced: "Without adding more facilities, the equipment is guaranteed to operate safely and reliably, reducing the average annual power outage time for customers from 1 hour to 5 minutes."

As of December 25, 2019, the power supply reliability rate of Suzhou Power Supply Company was 99.9546%, the comprehensive voltage qualification rate was 100%, and the average power outage time per household was 3.9 hours, a year-on-year decrease of 32.31%.

Introducing clean electricity

Become a "practitioner" of green water and green mountains

Since the beginning of this year, Suzhou Power Supply Company has implemented the "bottleneck to electricity" policy in Pingjiang Road and Guanqian Business District, promoting fully electric kitchens. Zhang Songguang, the person in charge of a popular restaurant in Guanqian Business District, said: "We did some calculations and found that after the transformation, the cost is much lower than using liquefied gas cylinders, and we estimate that we can save 12,000 yuan a year." So far, 107 catering businesses in Pingjiang Road and Guanqian Business District have completed the "bottleneck to electricity" policy.

At the same time, Suzhou's electric vehicle charging growth rate ranks first among cities nationwide. On November 18, 2019, the "Suzhou New Energy Vehicle and Charging Facility Monitoring Platform" jointly created by Suzhou Municipal Bureau of Industry and Information Technology and Suzhou Power Supply Company was launched. Qian Kejun, deputy director of the marketing department of Suzhou Power Supply Company, said that the platform breaks through the data barriers of various charging operators, car companies and regulatory platforms, realizes interconnection, and integrates data information. It can provide differentiated monitoring management and services for the public, charging operators and government departments, which will effectively promote the promotion and popularization of electric vehicles. So far, the platform has connected 8 charging operators, 3 vehicle operators, 572 charging stations, 4,447 charging facilities, and 4,028 electric vehicles.

In addition, on the energy supply side, Suzhou Power Supply Company has used UHV technology to introduce large-scale clean energy from outside the region. Since the ±800 kV Jinping-Sunan UHV DC project was put into operation in 2012, it has delivered a total of 250.34 billion kWh of electricity to Suzhou, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by about 252 million tons. At present, the proportion of clean electricity in Suzhou power grid has reached 24%. In the future, with the construction and operation of Baihetan Hydropower and its supporting UHV transmission projects, this proportion will increase significantly.
