China Energy Storage Network News: Recently, State Grid Shanghai Electric Power Company organized a pilot transaction for a virtual power plant operation project to meet the peak winter demand. The trading and allocation of power loads were completed through the country's first virtual power plant operation system. A total of 226 customers and a total load of 87,000 kilowatts participated.
The original market-oriented load management work was carried out based on the power demand response platform, which had the problem of insufficient matching of various types of customers. The power demand response platform can only monitor the response load of participating customers such as buildings and manufacturers. The virtual power plant operation system can monitor the load changes of specific equipment of customers participating in demand response, and the granularity of load management work is more refined.
Zheng Qingrong, head of the State Grid Shanghai Electric Power Demand Response Center, said: "The load management work carried out with the help of the demand response management platform had weak load flexibility and could not fully monitor the operating status of various types of customers. The platform's aggregation capacity was insufficient. The virtual power plant operation system is more intelligent and can better meet the actual needs of power demand response. It can reorganize fragmented loads and create a new power load dispatching model."
It is reported that the virtual power plant operation project uses advanced information and communication technology and Internet of Things technology to deeply connect and accurately access customer energy-using equipment, thereby realizing the aggregation of idle loads. At the same time, with the help of the Municipal Commission of Economics and Information Technology, the virtual power plant started from the demand-side response, set up differentiated income incentives based on technical parameters, and innovated the trading mechanism to create a good ecological environment for the rooting and germination of new market players.
At present, there are 4 virtual power plant operators and 512 customers integrated into the virtual power plant operation system, covering various types of resources such as electric vehicle charging piles, park microgrids, commercial buildings, industrial automatic response, trigeneration, energy storage systems, distributed energy, ice storage devices, etc. A large number of user-side resources have been transformed from simple electricity users into "virtual power plants" with great potential through optimization and aggregation, directly participating in the optimization operation of the large power grid, and jointly making urban energy use more efficient and economical.
The newly built virtual power plant operation system includes business support systems such as the virtual power plant trading platform, operation management and monitoring platform, and control platform, which realize functions such as power grid operation demand triggering, multi-variety transaction organization, and virtual power plant online monitoring and management, and promote the connection of the entire business flow and information flow. The virtual power plant side platform simulates the external characteristic parameters such as the ramp rate of conventional generator sets by formulating various resource call methods, standardizes and refines the participation method of each user, and maximizes the unit characteristic curve of the virtual power plant to be close to that of conventional generator sets. At the same time, through the terminal mobile APP, users can detect their own energy consumption and further improve the level of refined management of their own electric energy.
It is reported that in the next stage, State Grid Shanghai Electric Power will continue to build a source-grid-load interactive system under the existing market mechanism, relying on concept innovation and technological breakthroughs, and actively explore various forms of user-side resource aggregation management. In the future, more than 10,000 users will be connected to the system in succession, fully demonstrating the achievements of the ubiquitous power Internet of Things construction.
