On November 29, Jibei Electric Power Research Institute and NARI Relay Protection Electric Co., Ltd. completed the low current and rated current breaking tests of four high-voltage DC circuit breakers at Zhangbei Converter Station. So far, the special test of 500 kV high-voltage DC circuit breakers has been completed.
The 500 kV high-voltage DC circuit breaker disconnection test is an important part of assessing whether the circuit breaker meets the requirements for commissioning. The test process involves various components of the circuit breaker body and secondary control and protection. As the responsible unit for the test, Jibei Electric Power Research Institute established a relevant team, jointly deployed in advance with Nanrui Relay Protection, and deeply participated in the on-site commissioning of the circuit breaker. After completing all the joint commissioning projects, the test personnel designed a rated current disconnection test plan based on the previous factory test results and the actual situation on site, and carried out the rated current disconnection test of the first 500 kV high-voltage DC circuit breaker of the Zhangbei Flexible Direct Current Project on November 26. Through the test summary and waveform analysis, the test personnel completed further improvement and debugging, and then completed three small current disconnections and three rated current disconnections, and the tests were successfully passed.
The application of 500 kV high-voltage DC circuit breakers in the Zhangbei flexible DC project is of great significance to ensuring the safe and stable operation of the DC system. Jibei Electric Power Research Institute closely followed the design, development, manufacturing, installation and on-site commissioning of the high-voltage DC circuit breaker throughout the process, completed the technical reserves from scratch, and ensured the successful implementation of this test.
