China Energy Storage Network News : On November 12, the smart substation network performance test device developed by the State Grid Hunan Electric Power Research Institute was successfully applied to the Lion Mountain Smart Substation project site, discovering and eliminating hidden defects in the main equipment monitoring system. This is also the successful application of the institute's scientific research project on site, helping the construction of the State Grid's first batch of smart substation projects.
In order to promote the strategic goal of "three types and two networks, world-class" and better serve residents' electricity use, State Grid Corporation of China has actively deployed the construction of smart substations based on the concept of ubiquitous Internet of Things. The Hengyang 110 kV Lion Mountain Smart Substation Pilot Reconstruction Project is one of the first seven pilot smart stations of State Grid.
Smart substations achieve holographic perception of the status of the entire station through various sensors installed on the primary equipment and in the three-dimensional space of the station area. Information obtained by various sensors in the entire station is collected through the network to the centralized monitoring background, which is used to realize intelligent applications such as intelligent linkage, active early warning, and intelligent decision-making within the station. The massive data generated by sensors within the station puts forward performance requirements such as high reliability and low latency for the communication network of the smart station.
In order to actively respond to the technical challenges of ubiquitous power grid networking construction, Hunan Electric Power Research Institute organized doctors of electricity to plan ahead and conduct in-depth research. In order to improve the reliability of network communication within the station, a smart substation network performance test device was developed. The device can be connected through a portable mobile terminal to achieve one-click testing and automatic report generation of network performance such as throughput, packet loss rate, broadcast delay, and MAC address learning rate.
In the on-site network performance test of the Lion Mountain Smart Station, the device detected a hidden defect in the bay layer switch that the IEEE 1588 clock protocol function was not configured, effectively ensuring the time accuracy of the local module of the main control system. In addition, the effective detection and troubleshooting of network storms within the station using the device promoted the optimization configuration of the network structure within the station and ensured the smooth connection of the data transmission channels of various sensors.
In the next stage, Hunan Electric Power Research Institute will continue to iterate and improve the functions of its researched devices for the application scenario of smart substations, develop detection equipment for new devices in smart substations, and make unremitting efforts to achieve more fruitful results in the construction of "pan-network".
