The "Digital Southern Power Grid Forum to Support the Development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area" was held in Guangzhou from the 29th to the 30th. At the forum, the Southern Power Grid Company sent out a cooperation signal of "jointly discussing and building a new energy ecology". More than 1,100 representatives from government departments, upstream and downstream enterprises in the energy industry, information and communication technology (ICT) companies and the Southern Power Grid system attended the forum.

China Southern Power Grid operates the world's most complex AC/DC interconnected power grid, which generates massive amounts of data at every moment and in every link. Fully collecting, analyzing, and mining power grid data, and using digital technology to more efficiently use every kilowatt-hour of electricity and reduce energy consumption are the starting points for China Southern Power Grid's digital transformation. Lou Shan, director of the Digitalization Department of China Southern Power Grid, said that digital power grids can efficiently allocate resources, self-regulate, and interact with social and economic entities.

According to the relevant plan formulated by the State Grid Corporation of China, the "4321" project will be carried out, namely: building four major business platforms for power grid management, customer service, dispatching and operation, and enterprise-level operation and control, and three basic platforms for the State Grid Cloud Platform, Digital Power Grid and Internet of Things, connecting with the national industrial Internet, digital government and stakeholders in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area to build a unified data center, and ultimately achieving the overall goal of the digital State Grid of "full perception of power grid status, full online enterprise management, full control of operation data, new customer service experience, and win-win cooperation in energy development."

According to the plan, the Digital Southern Grid will initially have the ability to provide internal and external services in 2019, and will achieve interconnection between upstream and downstream energy industry chains in 2020. By 2025, the Digital Southern Grid will be basically completed. (End)
