As global warming and climate change intensify, the renewable energy industry has become an inevitable trend, and Taiwan cannot stay out of it. In the Taiwan authorities' medium- and long-term photovoltaic plan, the goal is to complete the installation of 6.5GW of photovoltaics by 2020, and install 3GW of rooftop and 17GW of ground-mounted photovoltaic capacity, totaling 20GW, by 2025. As of 2018, the total photovoltaic installation capacity in Taiwan has exceeded 1GW, officially entering the GW-level market. ABB, a Swiss multinational automation and electromechanical equipment company that has been deeply rooted in Taiwan for 30 years, is optimistic about the photovoltaic market in Taiwan and will also launch photovoltaic inverters that can be used for both ground-mounted and rooftop types, working together for the development of renewable energy in Taiwan.
The industry's highest power density three-phase inverter debuts
As the "heart" of the photovoltaic system, the photovoltaic inverter is responsible for converting the direct current generated by photovoltaics into alternating current that can be used by households. It is the core of the stability and reliability of the overall power generation system. In recent years, the development of large-scale ground power plants has received more and more attention in Taiwan, so large-capacity inverters suitable for large power plants, commercial and residential use will become increasingly popular. In response to this, ABB has obtained the VPC certification of the Bureau of Standards, Metrology and Inspection and launched the ultra-high power photovoltaic inverter PVS-100/120-TL in Taiwan. Its biggest feature is that the DC input voltage can reach 1,000V. In addition to being suitable for photovoltaic systems with a rated power of up to 120KW, it is also the three-phase inverter with the highest power density in the industry. For large power plants, it will be able to effectively reduce the levelized cost of electricity generation (LCOE) and improve the power generation efficiency.

Taking a deeper look at the internal design of the PVS-100/120-TL, the inverter is equipped with 6 independent maximum power point tracking (MPPT) devices, so whether it is sunny or cloudy, and whether there are shades or trees above the modules, it can optimize the photovoltaic power output and greatly improve the return on investment of the photovoltaic system. Unlike common inverter products on the market, the PVS-100/120-TL has a built-in DC box, so customers do not need to spend extra money to buy it, and they can have the necessary safety protection device for the inverter to avoid surges or current overloads, further reducing the risk of inverter accidents.
In addition, ABB is not careless in testing and maintenance. In 2018, it began to actively promote digital services ─ ABB Ability, which transmits and integrates data through multiple sensors on the equipment, and finally combines AI big data, IoT and other technologies to achieve energy management and regulation, and finally establish a huge customer database. In addition to regular on-site maintenance every year, events can also be predicted, maintained and analyzed through data analysis. What's more rare is that ABB also provides free photovoltaic inverter remote monitoring and data acquisition system services. As long as you install the APP that comes with the ABB photovoltaic inverter, you can monitor the power generation status of the photovoltaic system anytime and anywhere, without having to purchase third-party monitoring software, making electricity use more transparent, real-time and safe.

From equipment planning, installation and maintenance to power information services, we can handle it all
As a global leader in electrical products and industrial automation, ABB is a global leader in photovoltaic systems, power systems, and large-scale power plant solutions in addition to photovoltaic inverters. From photovoltaic power generation to the entire electrical product chain covered by building applications, including various low-voltage electronic control components, DC switch boxes, photovoltaic inverters, AC switch boxes, low-voltage and high-voltage switchgear and switch cabinets, UHV switch cabinets, etc., ABB can provide complete equipment planning and design, installation and maintenance, and even subsequent power data collection, analysis and prediction One-stop systematic service. In view of the current hot development of the photovoltaic industry, ABB Taiwan General Manager Ma Zhengqun also emphasized: "Whether it is a small residential application or the currently popular large-scale photovoltaic power plant, we can help customers plan overall solutions for different power plant sizes, as well as subsequent testing and maintenance services. For the client, they can enjoy a one-stop overall planning service, thereby saving time and overall costs. In addition, there is no need to worry about the incompatibility of parts and equipment from various manufacturers, and repairs and subsequent maintenance are relatively easy. This is our core, and we hope to provide customers with more comprehensive, more convenient, more efficient, and more innovative solutions and services."
Looking ahead, ABB has been developing in Taiwan for more than 30 years and has cooperated with many large companies such as petrochemical, power plants, steel mills, and semiconductors to provide a number of automation equipment, robotic arms, propulsion systems and other projects. In the future, it will also move forward with Taiwan's policies. Currently, it has not only invested in the propulsion system of the Tamsui Light Rail, the trackside power supply planned for the railway in the forward-looking plan, etc., but is also actively assisting in the construction of domestic equipment in offshore wind power projects and providing equipment such as offshore substations.
In the face of energy transformation, it may not be enough to install photovoltaic and wind power generation equipment. In particular, green energy is an intermittent energy source, and a large number of energy storage systems are needed to improve the dispatching capacity and stability of the power grid to ensure the quality and safety of electricity. As a guardian of electrical safety and power grid quality, ABB is also actively involved in the energy storage market and provides energy storage converters with a maximum capacity of 2MW. It also cooperates with the Industrial Technology Research Institute and several battery manufacturers, hoping to contribute to the stability and safety of Taiwan's power supply while promoting green energy.
