China Energy Storage Network reported : "With the advancement of energy transformation and electricity market reform, as well as the increasing importance of the public's right to know and right to participate, the power industry is vigorously promoting the construction and operation of 'strong smart grid' and 'ubiquitous power Internet of Things' to adapt to the profound changes taking place inside and outside the power system. The construction of the two networks and their integration will face many challenges." Xue Yusheng, honorary president of the State Grid Electric Power Research Institute and academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, said at the 4th "Zijin Electricity Forum" - International Academic Seminar on Smart Grid Protection and Operation Control on August 17.

"Zijin Electricity Forum" is the most internationally influential annual academic event in my country's smart grid field. The meeting on that day attracted more than 600 guests from seven countries including China, the United States, and Canada. The meeting focused on hot topics such as the "integration of two networks" of smart grids and ubiquitous power Internet of Things, which represent the direction of energy transformation, and discussed the latest achievements and cutting-edge technologies.

The construction of ubiquitous power Internet of Things will achieve industry integration

At the beginning of 2019, State Grid Corporation of China first proposed the concept of "Ubiquitous Power Internet of Things", which has become very popular since its proposal. The widespread application of ubiquitous power Internet of Things, cloud computing, Internet of Things and other information technologies and intelligent technologies are the inevitable product of the in-depth development of the digital revolution in the field of energy and power.

In this Zijin Electricity Forum, experts focused on the construction of ubiquitous power Internet of Things and expressed their views on it. Chen Xiaoliang, deputy secretary general of the Chinese Society of Electrical Engineering, said that in the future, the Internet, Internet of Things, communication network and power system will be more closely integrated. The rapid development of distributed power sources, energy storage devices, smart appliances, and the widespread application of modern information technologies such as cloud computing, big data, and mobile terminals have put forward new and higher requirements for power grid technology innovation. The energy Internet that integrates multi-energy conversion technology, intelligent control technology and modern information technology is an inevitable trend in the development of power grids.

Wang Wei, deputy director of the NARI Research Institute, said that the traditional smart grid has established physical links with various industries through the power supply and demand relationship. The interconnection of the ubiquitous power Internet of Things with various industries will establish a new ecosystem. This ecosystem is a "data" sharing established through cooperation between the power sector and related industry sectors. The data generation end of this "data sharing" may be controlled by both the power sector and the industrial sector. This ecosystem is more about guiding user-side behavior and will also derive a comprehensive energy service system.

Zhu Shengwei, senior strategic marketing manager of Intel's Internet of Things Division, also expressed his own views. He said that the strong smart grid and the ubiquitous Internet of Things have promoted the integration of the power world and the digital world, and built a new cross-power value network ecosystem. The power system runs through the lifeline of the entire national economy, and is increasingly carrying the mission of driving the transformation of the industry's business model and creating intelligent insight value. In the future, the billions of edge computing devices in the ubiquitous Internet of Things will provide a steady stream of data blood for this power blood vessel, accelerating the innovation-oriented self-iteration of each organization in the value network.

"In the process of integrating electricity and digitalization, traditional power companies and Internet companies need to cooperate deeply and complement each other. Traditional power companies build energy and power infrastructure, and Internet information companies establish information platforms. In the future, a win-win situation will be achieved through the ubiquitous power Internet of Things." said Xu Shiming, director of the Science and Technology Information Department of Nanrui Group.

The integration of the two networks will take into account both reliability and openness

"There will be many difficulties in the implementation of the ubiquitous power Internet of Things, and the technical framework system and standards need to be established. Internet companies entering the energy industry have different application scenarios and technical systems. There are differences in the construction of the power Internet of Things and the industrial Internet of Things. These companies need to make adjustments based on the actual application scenarios and continue to explore." Zheng Yuping, deputy general manager and chief engineer of NARI Group, said.

Moreover, the integration of the ubiquitous power Internet of Things and the smart grid also faces risks such as information security and grid reliability. Xue Yusheng said that my country's smart grid is already quite reliable, but in order to ensure the reliability of the power system, only authorized terminals can access the data in the power intranet, sacrificing the degree of information openness. Now, with the reform of energy and electricity, more and more people hope that the power grid system will open up and share data, but openness may bring about grid security risks. To solve this realistic challenge, the information-physical-social system in the energy field should be used to lead, and an information buffer link based on a dedicated network should be established between the strong smart grid and the ubiquitous power Internet of Things, so as to take into account the reliability and openness of the power grid.

As a leading enterprise supporting the construction of the ubiquitous power Internet of Things of State Grid Corporation, NARI Group has long begun to lay out this field and break relevant barriers and restrictions by formulating standards. At present, it has led the compilation of 6 national standards for "ubiquitous power Internet of Things" and participated in the compilation of 35 projects, involving smart Internet of Things systems, deep perception, data middle platform, security protection systems and other fields. At the same time, it is accelerating the pilot of distribution Internet of Things in Jiangsu, among which the construction of intelligent full-perception substations as practical applications of ubiquitous power Internet of Things has been launched first. The 110 kV Nanmen Substation in Lishui District, Nanjing, which is technically supported by NARI Group, has been completed and put into operation, becoming the first intelligent full-perception substation in China. At present, the construction of similar substations in Suzhou and Nanjing Jiangbei New District is also underway. Among them, in the ancient city of Suzhou, 30 grid-based distribution Internet of Things power stations will be built, which can achieve timely maintenance at the second level of perception.
