BeiDou system has entered the stage of industrial application

Spatiotemporal information is an important basic data of the ubiquitous power Internet of Things. The Beidou satellite navigation system is an important spatiotemporal information infrastructure in my country, which can provide positioning, navigation, and timing services. Based on the spatiotemporal services of the Beidou system, what application scenarios have power grid companies derived? In what ways will the Beidou spatiotemporal services help the construction and development of the ubiquitous power Internet of Things?

The Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) is an air-based radio navigation and positioning system that can provide users with all-weather three-dimensional coordinates, speed and time information at any location on the Earth's surface or in near-Earth space. GNSS is not only an infrastructure for national security and economy, but also an important symbol of the status of a modern great power and its comprehensive national strength. Therefore, the world's major military powers and economies are competing to develop independent satellite navigation systems. At present, the GNSS that have been or are being built around the world include the United States' Global Positioning System (GPS), Russia's "GLONASS" navigation system, the European Union's Galileo satellite navigation system and China's Beidou satellite navigation system.

The BeiDou Navigation Satellite System is the world's fourth largest satellite navigation system independently built and operated by my country with an eye on national security and economic and social development needs. By the end of 2018, the BeiDou system had completed the launch and networking of 19 satellites, basically completed system construction, and provided services to the world. The BeiDou system has a global positioning accuracy of 10 meters, a speed measurement accuracy of 0.2 meters per second, a timing accuracy of 20 nanoseconds, a service availability of better than 95%, and a positioning accuracy of 5 meters in the Asia-Pacific region. my country plans to complete the construction of the BeiDou-3 system around 2020 and provide services to the world. The full completion of the BeiDou system will completely free us from dependence on GPS and safeguard national information security.

Beidou is accelerating the integration and innovation with mobile communications, mobile Internet, Internet of Things, big data and other technologies, which is profoundly and far-reachingly affecting and changing people's production and lifestyle. Navigation, positioning and timing service products with Beidou's spatiotemporal information as the core are increasingly being used in e-commerce, mobile smart terminals, smart connected cars, and Internet location services, and are entering mass consumption, sharing economy and people's livelihood services on a large scale. Beidou's comprehensive development of "integrating technology, network, terminal and data" is forming a new form of "Beidou+" innovation and "+ Beidou" application, becoming the core driving force for Beidou's innovation and application development.

In terms of industry applications, the Beidou satellite navigation system and location services based on spatiotemporal data have been widely used in more than a dozen industries, including transportation, maritime affairs, electricity, civil affairs, meteorology, fisheries, surveying and mapping, mining, public security, agriculture, forestry, land, water conservancy, and finance, forming a relatively complete industrial system. The scale of the industry continues to expand, and the output value has steadily increased, maintaining a good development trend. In 2018, the overall output value of my country's satellite navigation and location services industry reached 301.6 billion yuan, an increase of 18.3% over 2017.

With the BeiDou-3 system about to be fully completed and oriented to global services, and with the strong support of national macro policies, my country's satellite navigation and positioning service industry is entering a new stage of development.

Important basic data of ubiquitous power Internet of Things

In 2019, State Grid Corporation of China officially proposed to build a world-class energy Internet enterprise with "three types and two networks", and comprehensively deploy the construction of ubiquitous power Internet of Things to jointly form an energy Internet with "three flows in one" of energy flow, business flow and data flow. Among them, the construction of data flow is the key to the construction of ubiquitous power Internet of Things.

Spatiotemporal information is an important basic data of the ubiquitous power Internet of Things. The Beidou satellite system and location services will fully support the construction and development of the ubiquitous power Internet of Things from aspects such as accurate perception of spatiotemporal information and analysis of spatiotemporal data.

The positioning, navigation and timing functions of the Beidou satellite navigation system can realize accurate, real-time and dynamic perception of spatiotemporal information, and comprehensively build the holographic perception capability of spatiotemporal information of the ubiquitous power Internet of Things. At present, the company's "Power Beidou Precision Service Network" ground-based augmentation system is under construction. After completion, the "Power Beidou Precision Service Network" will be able to provide the company's Beidou applications with wide-area real-time meter-level, decimeter-level, centimeter-level and post-processing millimeter-level high-precision positioning services and nanosecond-level high-precision timing services with full coverage.

In addition, the analysis of spatiotemporal data can transform "data" into "knowledge", thereby assisting or guiding the business applications of the ubiquitous power Internet of Things. At present, the typical application in the power industry is the "transmission line geological disaster monitoring and early warning system". The system targets the safety hazards caused by geological disasters along the transmission lines, and deploys Beidou high-precision monitoring equipment for power grid infrastructure and surrounding geological disasters (landslides, mudslides). Based on Beidou high-precision positioning technology, the system can determine the deformation status and geometric line shape of the monitoring area through real-time monitoring of the spatial displacement of the monitoring points and historical data analysis, automatically, timely and accurately monitor the geological deformation around the power tower, and issue geological disaster warnings in a timely manner, provide support for the formulation of treatment plans, and ensure the safe and stable operation of the transmission lines.

Realize intelligent services based on Beidou space-time information

In what aspects will Beidou's space-time service promote the development of ubiquitous power Internet of Things and change the form of future power grid services?

By utilizing new technologies such as big cloud, Internet of Things, mobile Internet, and artificial intelligence, we can integrate spatiotemporal information with multi-source information, mine spatiotemporal data in the spatial and temporal dimensions, and realize the transformation from data to information, from information to knowledge, and from knowledge to intelligence, ultimately building a new pattern of energy interconnection driven by spatiotemporal intelligence.

At present, Beidou spatiotemporal intelligent services have been successfully applied in the field of the Internet of Things. Among them, the most typical application is JD Logistics. JD has extensively applied spatiotemporal data and intelligent analysis in various links such as buyer shopping portraits, commodity warehousing, logistics scheduling, and distribution, allowing logistics services to break the restrictions and barriers of administrative divisions, promote the overall optimization of logistics configuration, improve logistics efficiency, and provide users with a high-quality shopping experience (the fastest delivery and arrival on the same day) while significantly reducing logistics costs.

At present, Siji Location Company, a subsidiary of State Grid Information and Communication Industry Group Co., Ltd., is exploring spatiotemporal intelligent services based on the spatiotemporal big data of distribution and operation to provide decision-making assistance for power supply service command. The spatiotemporal intelligent service of distribution and operation is based on the spatial location of faulty equipment, repair personnel and materials, combined with big data such as power grid topology and traffic network, to conduct spatial analysis, realize automatic intelligent dispatching of repairs, efficient dispatch of repair personnel, reasonable allocation of repair materials, and optimal planning and navigation of repair paths, improve the efficiency of fault repairs, achieve supervision and control of the entire repair process, and enhance customer experience and power supply service level.

With the in-depth research and promotion and application of Beidou technology, spatiotemporal information will support the digital and intelligent development of the ubiquitous power Internet of Things, promote the expansion of energy services from two-dimensional to three-dimensional, and realize spatiotemporal intelligent management.
