On June 26, the 2019 (3rd) China Power Distribution Technology Summit Forum with the theme of "Interpreting the Power Distribution Internet of Things Architecture System and Promoting the High-quality Development of Energy Interconnection" was grandly held in Beijing. More than 1,000 experts in the power distribution field attended the meeting to exchange ideas, share experiences, and explore and research to promote the progress and development of power distribution Internet of Things technology. Academicians Zhou Xiaoxin and Chen Weijiang of the Chinese Academy of Sciences gave wonderful reports.

At the meeting, the Equipment Management Department of State Grid Corporation of China released a series of innovative achievements in the development of distribution Internet of Things technology. Shandong, Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shanghai Electric Power Companies shared and displayed the engineering demonstration applications of distribution Internet of Things and related technological innovation achievements.

Data drives the new life of future electricity consumption

In January this year, State Grid Corporation of China proposed to build and operate a strong smart grid and ubiquitous power Internet of Things. After the concept of "ubiquitous power Internet of Things" was introduced to the public for the first time, it attracted attention from all walks of life.

"Ubiquitous Power Internet of Things" refers to the application of modern information technologies such as mobile Internet and artificial intelligence to realize the intelligent service system of interconnecting everything and human-machine interaction in all links of the power system. Visualized energy flow and information flow connect photovoltaic power generation, energy storage, ground source heat pumps, and various household appliances. Through the intelligent energy control system, it realizes the perception and optimization of various energy states, realizes the unified management of all business data of power companies, and "instant access" to internal and external data, and improves the digitalization, informatization and intelligent development of my country's first-class distribution network. Up to now, State Grid Corporation of China has comprehensively promoted the construction of ubiquitous power Internet of Things, issued the outline of the construction of ubiquitous power Internet of Things, and formulated the 2019 construction plan of ubiquitous power Internet of Things, which clarified the construction tasks for the whole year, as well as 25 large-scale comprehensive demonstration projects at four levels: provinces, cities, counties, and parks.

As the implementation of the "ubiquitous power Internet of Things" in the field of power distribution, the "distribution Internet of Things" has achieved the perfect integration of the Internet of Things and the distribution network. This year, it is planned to carry out the construction of the first batch of demonstration areas in Tianjin, Shanghai, Qingdao, Nanjing, Suzhou, Hangzhou and other places to achieve the large-scale engineering application of key technologies of the distribution Internet of Things and the application and promotion of typical scenarios, provide high-quality services to the majority of power customers, and provide accurate information to industry users.

Provide accurate and proactive repair services to promote energy-saving and smart electricity use

Hangzhou Qianjiang Century City is the core area of the city under the background of "development along the river" in Hangzhou. It is also the site of the main venue of the 2022 Asian Games. At the same time, adhering to the construction concept of the distribution Internet of Things of "everything is connected, intelligent interaction", it is the key construction area of the pilot distribution Internet of Things demonstration zone in Zhejiang Province.

On June 17, at the Country Garden Longyue Community in Qianjiang Century City, Hangzhou, staff from the State Grid Hangzhou Power Supply Company were busy carrying out intelligent upgrades to the power distribution equipment.

When a power outage occurs to a user, the intelligent distribution transformer terminal uses edge computing technology to analyze the fault data locally and then sends it to the cloud master station for comprehensive analysis. Before the user calls the repair hotline, the fault can be accurately located and personnel can be arranged to carry out emergency repairs, which shortens the repair time by 60% compared with the past, greatly improving the efficiency of operation and maintenance repairs and power supply reliability. At the same time, power outage information is actively sent to users to inform them of the cause of the power outage and the estimated restoration time, improving the customer's power experience and effectively improving the power supply service level.

"The core of our equipment upgrade this time is to install intelligent distribution transformer terminals and low-voltage line monitoring terminals. Through the above-mentioned equipment, we can collect data such as power consumption, voltage, current, etc. at key distribution nodes, so as to achieve comprehensive perception of power consumption information from switch station - medium-voltage distribution line - distribution transformer - low-voltage distribution line - user, and realize proactive emergency repair services for faults." Dong Wenliang, a staff member of Hangzhou Xiaoshan District Power Supply Co., Ltd., introduced in the Country Garden Longyue distribution room.

Energy-saving and smart electricity use is the new measure that can best enable users to experience the future electricity use in this upgrade. By using the intelligent distribution and transformation terminal of the power distribution Internet of Things technology, it can sense and analyze customer electricity use information, identify and profile the electricity use behavior characteristics of different customer groups such as families and enterprises, and give scientific and reasonable home smart energy use suggestions, so as to achieve rapid response to user-side needs and improve customer service levels.

Since the State Grid Corporation of China launched the construction of the ubiquitous Internet of Things, the State Grid Zhejiang Electric Power Co., Ltd. has actively carried out implementation practices and rapidly promoted the construction of the Hangzhou Qianjiang Century City Power Distribution Internet of Things Demonstration Zone. "We will accelerate the construction of the "Ubiquitous Power Internet of Things" demonstration zone, and the first batch of 11 communities and 11,000 households will be the first to experience such changes in electricity consumption." said Feng Xinglong, deputy director of the Operation and Maintenance Department of Hangzhou Xiaoshan District Power Supply Co., Ltd.

Enjoy smart charging and see data clearly

"Nowadays, there are more and more charging stations, which makes charging very convenient and relieves our worries about traveling with electric cars." On June 16, at the Qianjiang Power Supply Station of Hangzhou Xiaoshan District Power Supply Co., Ltd., citizen Huang Cheng plugged in the charging gun to charge his car.

While charging, the data generated by it also started running. Including the charging pile he used, there are now 60 charging piles in the demonstration area that are installing low-voltage line terminals. The terminal can monitor the charging load, charging cycle characteristics, and charging status in real time, so that the back-end staff can view the operation information of the charging pile with one click in the power supply service command center, learn about the fault situation at the first time, and realize the active repair and operation of the charging pile. At the same time, the massive data generated by charging can be better predicted through deep mining and analysis of big data, and the future distribution network layout can be reasonably planned, thereby improving user satisfaction.

As the government's requirements for the proportion of parking spaces for charging piles continue to increase, if a large number of electric car owners charge at the same time during peak hours, it will bring huge load pressure to the distribution network, which is not conducive to the safe and stable operation of the power grid. Hangzhou Xiaoshan District Power Supply Co., Ltd. accelerates the planning and construction of the distribution network by analyzing users' charging habits and electricity demand. In addition, the company will also carry out Internet of Things transformation of charging piles in residential communities and commercial buildings. According to the load of the power grid, it will make suggestions for electric car owners to charge in an orderly manner, and provide corresponding electricity price discounts to guide users to charge reasonably, which will help the power grid to reduce peaks and fill valleys, and at the same time realize the sharing of dividends with electric car owners.

"The distribution Internet of Things is not only about interconnecting power facilities, but will also greatly change the lifestyle of every citizen and promote the sustainable development of the city. The Hangzhou Demonstration Zone is the first pilot area for the State Grid's future distribution Internet of Things. Next, the entire Zhejiang province will continue to improve and promote this technical architecture." Chen Lei, head of the Distribution Department of the Equipment Management Department of State Grid Zhejiang Electric Power Co., Ltd., is full of confidence in the future.

With the technical support of "Ubiquitous Power Internet of Things", orderly charging and discharging of electric vehicles can be achieved, the system load characteristics, voltage and frequency quality can be improved, friendly interaction and coordinated operation among vehicles, charging facilities and power grids can be achieved, and grid-load demand response can be built.
