Jiangsu power auxiliary service market runs smoothly in trial

China Energy Storage Network News: In the first quarter, Jiangsu's power auxiliary service (peak load regulation) market was open for 30 days in total, with a total of 347 units participating in deep peak load regulation, and the maximum daily deep peak load regulation reached 2.1 million kilowatts, effectively alleviating the peak load regulation pressure of Jiangsu power grid.

In order to meet the needs of power grid peak regulation, Jiangsu Province has organized and implemented the transformation of unit regulation flexibility since 2017 to improve the deep peak regulation capability of units. Since the beginning of this year, the proportion of units that have completed optimization and transformation and have deep peak regulation capabilities has further increased, with 12 new units added in the first quarter alone, with a total capacity of 7.2 million kilowatts. As of the end of March, a total of 89 main coal-fired units in Jiangsu Power Grid have completed deep peak regulation tests, with a total installed capacity of 54.3 million kilowatts, accounting for 78% of the province's public conventional coal-fired units with a capacity of 300,000 kilowatts and above.

The enthusiasm of power generation enterprises to participate in peak load regulation has been improved. In the first quarter, the Jiangsu power auxiliary service (peak load regulation) market generated a total compensation fee of 45.16 million yuan and an assessment fee of 330,000 yuan, and the average income of power generation enterprises participating in the market was 0.49 yuan/kWh. Among them, among the top five power plants in terms of net income in the first quarter, four were owned by the Jiangsu Branch of China Huaneng Group Co., Ltd., with a total income of nearly 20 million yuan. "We have relatively many 300,000-kilowatt coal-fired power units. Under the constraints of factors such as high power generation costs and increasing competitive pressure, actively participating in the peak load regulation market and improving comprehensive benefits are important means for our company to improve quality and efficiency."
