(Reporter Chen Yiliang) On April 24, the 9th China International Energy Storage Conference with the theme of "Exploring the Road to Commercialization of Energy Storage to Serve the Global Integrated Energy Market" was held in Hangzhou. More than 1,600 industry professionals from government departments, industry associations, large energy companies, power companies, system integrators and other institutions attended the conference. At the opening ceremony of the conference, Liu Yanlong, Secretary-General of the China Chemical (601117) and Physical Power Industry Association, said that energy storage, as a national strategic emerging industry, is a key supporting technology to adapt to the clean energy transformation and promote large-scale new energy consumption, and will play an important role in the future energy system.
Liu Yanlong pointed out that as the technology and economy continue to mature, the development of the energy storage industry has attracted great attention from all sectors of society, and the importance of applications on the power supply side, grid side, and user side has become increasingly prominent. According to statistics from the Energy Storage Application Branch of the China Chemical and Physical Power Industry Association, as of the end of 2018, the cumulative installed power scale of China's electrochemical energy storage market was 1033.7MW, breaking the GW level for the first time, and a year-on-year increase of 146% in 2018.
It is worth noting that since the beginning of this year, favorable industry policies from the state and local governments have continued. At the beginning of 2019, the State Grid and China Southern Power Grid simultaneously issued the "Guiding Opinions on Promoting the Development of Electrochemical Energy Storage", actively guiding the coordinated development of energy storage applications, energy transformation, and grid reform. In March 2019, high-efficiency energy storage facilities were selected into the "Green Industry Guidance Catalogue (2019 Edition)" issued by the National Development and Reform Commission.
At the end of March 2019, the Suzhou Industrial Park Management Committee issued the "Suzhou Industrial Park Green Development Special Guidance Fund Management Measures", which stipulates that for energy storage projects that have been registered and implemented in the park and have been connected to the grid and put into operation, subsidies will be provided for three years based on the amount of power generated (discharged) after the project is put into operation, with a subsidy of 0.3 yuan per kilowatt-hour for the owner unit. This is the first local subsidy policy in my country to promote the development of the energy storage industry.
Liu Yanlong said that in 2019, driven by various forces and national policies, the energy storage industry will enter a new stage of development. Liu Yanlong suggested that relevant national departments should further strengthen the top-level design of the energy storage industry and promote the sustainable and healthy development of the energy storage industry. The energy storage industry should aim to improve development quality, overall efficiency and increase the comprehensive benefits of enterprises, study and formulate an overall development strategy for the energy storage industry, improve the policy system and mechanism, incorporate the application and promotion of energy storage technology into the energy development planning evaluation index system, promote the transformation of my country's energy structure and improve the efficiency of the energy system.
It is understood that this conference is hosted by the Energy Storage Application Branch of the China Chemical and Physical Power Sources Industry Association. The conference has set up an opening ceremony and interpretation of China's energy storage and power system reform policies, integrated energy services, international energy storage market and policies, energy storage power stations and technology applications, energy storage batteries and technology applications, energy storage and microgrids, electric vehicles and grid interconnection, hydrogen energy storage and fuel cells, energy Internet and multi-energy complementarity, energy storage costs and investment and financing, and the release of the "2019 Energy Storage Industry Application Research Report" and other 15 special forums.
